An intake device for an internal combustion engine, the intake device includes: a housing constituting an intake passage; a valve element including a valve portion arranged to open and close a part of the intake passage, and thereby to strengthen an intake air flow; and a receiving portion which is formed on a bottom wall of an aeration passage of the housing, and which is recessed in an arc shape along a movement trajectory of the valve portion, the valve portion including an outer side surface which confronts a bottom surface of the receiving portion, which has an arc shape, and which includes a seal portion that has a raised shape, and that extends along an edge portion on an upstream side of an intake direction.

Air intake device for internal combustion engine

An ECM determines a failure exist and a failure site in a control valve device from first and second failure diagnoses. In the first failure diagnosis, a failure is determined to have occurred if an opening amount that represents an absolute value of a difference between a detected opening amount and a target opening amount of a valve body is greater than a preset threshold when the target opening amount of the valve body is constant for a predetermined time. In the second failure diagnosis, a failure is determined to have occurred if an opening amount that represents the absolute value of the difference between the opening amount of the valve body when fully open or fully closed and the detected opening amount is greater than the preset threshold when a portion rotating integrally with the valve body has been pressed against a stopper continuously for a predetermined time.

Valve control device

An air intake device for an internal combustion engine of the present invention includes a water discharge passage extending from a bottom surface of a control valve housing part recessed in a housing passage forming part of an air intake passage to an air intake port. The water discharge passage is formed independently from the air intake passage, and includes: a water collection groove recessed in the bottom surface; a water discharge hole formed penetrating a cover of a valve control housing; and a water discharge hole penetrating a flange part of an insert inserted into the air intake port. The downstream end of the water discharge hole is connected to a space defined between an air intake port inner wall surface and an insert cylindrical part.

Support bracket and projection which project from curved lower surface of intake manifold are provided. Both parts are arranged in an opposed relation to each other with respect to a center of gravity of the intake manifold when viewed from a longitudinal direction in which a plurality of branches are arranged in parallel to one another. Intake manifold can be stably placed on a flat surface of a floor or the like in such a state that intake manifold is directed downwardly using support bracket and projection as legs. Support bracket also serves as a boss portion for a fixing bolt that fastens an engine body and intake manifold.
