According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a light source, and at least one light distribution control member configured to control distribution of light from the light source. The light distribution control member includes a base member higher in refractive index than air, and two optical control layers located opposite each other with a predetermined space therebetween on either side of the base member. The two optical control layers each includes a first region and a second region formed in correlative patterns. The light distribution control member is configured to control the light distribution based on a change of an overlap between the first and second regions depending on a direction of transmitted light.

Lighting device

According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a base member, a light source on the base member, a light-transmitting cover configured to cover the light source and to emit light emitted from the light source to the outside, and a light guide body provided opposite the light source and configured to guide, to the rear of the light source, at least part of the light from the light source. The cover includes a back light-transmitting region having a plane-normal line directed rearwardly. The light guide body includes a light-incident portion facing the light source and a light guide-emitting portion curvedly extending outward from the light-incident portion, having a distal end portion extending along the back light-transmitting region and directed to the rear.

According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a radiation surface, at least one light source provided to face the radiation surface, and an optical control member provided between the radiation surface and the light source and includes optical characteristics of transmission, diffraction, diffusion, and reflection, which vary for regions in the optical control member, a distribution of each of the optical characteristics being determined by positions relative to the at least one light source. The optical control member is formed in a sheet shape which is controlled by at least one of a reflective film having a reflection factor distribution, and a reflective film having a numerical aperture distribution, and lenses.

Lighting device and liquid crystal display apparatus comprising the same

A prefocus lens section in an electron gun assembly includes a second grid that is disposed on an electron beam generating section side, a third grid that is disposed on a main lens section side, and a shield grid that is disposed between the second grid and the third grid. The shield grid is a cup-shaped electrode with a side wall that surrounds an outer peripheral part of the third grid, which part is located on the second grid side, and extends in parallel to a tube axis. The shield grid has a bottom surface disposed to face the second grid and has an open end disposed to face the third grid. A relationship, Ec&#x3c;Vf&#x3c;Er, is established, where Ec is a potential applied to the second grid, Vf is a potential applied to the shield grid, and Er is a potential applied to the third grid.

Cathode-ray tube

The cathode ray tube apparatus comprises a main lens constructed by focus, intermediate, and final acceleration electrodes. The main lens includes a focusing area positioned in a side of the focus electrode, and a diverging area positioned in a side of the final acceleration electrode. A focusing force curve expressing the focusing force along the tube-axis direction in the focusing area has two convex parts respectively being at first and second levels, and a concave part provided between the convex parts and being at a third level sufficiently lower than the first and second levels. The third level is set to a lowermost level at which a focusing or diverging force is not substantially effected on the electron beam. An intermediate electrode having a non-circular shaped hole is positioned near an area of the lowermost level.

Cathode ray tube apparatus

An electron gun assembly includes a plurality of cathodes arranged in an in-line direction, at least first through fourth grids having electron beam passing holes arranged in an in-line direction, and an insulation support for sandwiching the cathodes and the grids between and fixing the cathodes and the grids from a direction perpendicular to the in-line direction. The second grid and the fourth grid are supplied with substantially the same low potential, the third grid is supplied with a potential higher than the potential of the fourth grid, and the second grid is fixed to the insulation support on a side of the third grid. The third grid has a cup-shaped electrode on a side of the second grid, the cup-shaped electrode including a plane portion having electron beam passing holes, an opening portion, and planting portions planted in the insulation support.

Electron gun structure

An inline type electron gun assembly has a main lens for focusing three electron beams on a phosphor screen. A resistor is arranged in a cathode ray tube. A voltage obtained by dividing a high voltage with the resistor is applied to an intermediate electrode. Voltages of a focusing electrode, the intermediate electrode, and a final accelerating electrode that constitute the main lens are determined to increase sequentially. Electron beam holes in the intermediate electrode on the focusing electrode side, and electron beam holes in the intermediate electrode on the final focusing electrode side form vertically elongated holes longer in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction. Electron beam holes in the focusing electrode on the intermediate electrode side and electron beam holes in the final accelerating electrode on the intermediate electrode side form open holes having no side wall portions. A color cathode ray tube having an electron gun assembly capable of improving resolving power can be provided.
