The present application relates to a technique of calculating an environmental load amount of each product produced on a production line including types of processing apparatuses. Power consumption required for producing a product is obtained more accurately and in an earlier stage. Power consumption required for producing each product is obtained by using the power consumption for each product with respect to each apparatus.

An electrostatic recording apparatus and a management system thereof wherein the recording apparatus includes a photoconductor drum having a cap provided at an opening of the drum and a photoconductor sheet wound on a portion of the drum other than the opening, with the photoconductor drum being rotated. The cap is electrified and a capacitor is provided between the cap and a terminal and charged through the cap to maintain the cap in an electrified state. A potential of the terminal is equal to a ground potential or a potential approximating the ground potential. Further, a controller is provided for discharging the electrified electric charge of the cap in response to a discharge instruction. A managing system may be provided for judging the state of the electrostatic recording apparatus.

Device and method for evaluating a defect of a photoconductive body in which the position and number of defects such as pinholes in the photoconductive body are detected. The defect evaluation device includes a charger, a photoconductive body moving mechanism, a surface potential sensor, a position sensor detecting the position of a cap member on the photoconductive body and an arithmetic operation unit and a diagnosing device. A rotating photoconductive drum is charged by the charger, and the charged surface potential of the drum is measured by the surface potential sensor. The measured position is determined by the position sensor. The measured values by the surface potential sensor is subjected to differentiation processing by the arithmetic operation unit to determine a differentiation value dV/dt of the surface potential V of the photoconductive body with respect to time t. The diagnosing device detects a position on the photoconductive body whose surface potential abruptly changes, from the dV/dt to thereby determine a fatal detect.

A potential of a reference potential measure section is set to a desired value of a potential of a drum surface (charge receptive surface) such that a potential of the reference potential measure section and a potential of the charge receptive surface are detected by a surface potential detect device during a rotation of the drum to obtain a difference between the values of the measured potential, so that an operation of a charger is controlled to be reduced to zero, thereby changing the potential of the charge receptive surface. This enables the surface potential to be precisely controlled without necessitating a frequent calibration of the surface potential detect device. In addition, the potential of the reference potential measure section is appropriately set depending on a develop condition so as to prevent a toner, when the portion passes a developer at a position over a circumferential area of the drum, from being fixed thereonto. Moreover, a potential of the reference potential detect section and a potential of the charge receptive surface are detected by use of the surface potential detect device so as to examine a difference therebetween and a distribution thereof, which enables a change as well as an irregular variation of the potential due to deterioration of the charge receptive surface to be analyzed. Based on the analysis, it is possible to detect the deterioration of the photoconductive body as the charge receptive surface so as to evaluate the life thereof. Furthermore, when an information processing system is configured by combining a computer with an electrostatic recording apparatus according to the present invention, there can be provided a picture quality control system effecting a precise control depending on a characteristic of the photoconductive body.

A beam position control apparatus in which a light beam is led into a light detector from a light generating source through a movable reflector and positioning of the light beam is performed by a servo control circuit for feeding a signal from the light detector back to the movable reflector, comprises: an oscillator for oscillating in response to an initializing signal and moving the movable reflector to move the beam onto the light detector; and a control switch for separating the oscillator and the movable reflector from each other in response to the signal from the light detector, the oscillator and the control switch being arranged in the servo control circuit.

In a printing sheet conveying device in which a sheet bearing a toner image is passed through a heating roll and a pressure roll, and which has means for changing the right and left contact pressures of these rolls to correct the meandering movement of the sheet when conveyance of the sheet is started; in which when conveyance of the sheet is started, the contact pressure of the rolls is made higher on one of the right and left sides than on the other side, and in a predetermined period of time the contact pressures on both sides are made equal to each other.

An electrophotographic device has a photosensitive element, an electrifier that forms a uniform electrostatic potential on the photosensitive element, and a light source for irradiating the photosensitive element to obtain an electrostatic latent image that has a reduced potential. A bias potential is applied to the photosensitive element after the latent image is formed, but before it is developed, so that the reduced potential of the latent image can be maintained at a constant level. With constant potentials existing on the photosensitive element, a printed image of high quality is obtained.

Electric-photosensitive printing is accomplished with an LD providing a laser scanning beam that is modulated to affect printing, and the power output of the LED is maintained constant through negative feedback by a holding voltage provided by a capacitor having its charge determined only during a non-printing portion of the printing period wherein a plurality of sheets are printed. During the non-printing period, contact of the scanning laser beam with the electro-photosensitive material is disabled while the laser beam is maintained on so that its power may be measured and compared with a reference level to provide a feedback signal for controlling the output of the laser beam, particularly the feedback signal being provided to the holding capacitor only during the non-printing portion of the period, and the holding capacitor being isolated from the feedback signal during the printing portion of the period. As a specific embodiment, a rectangular sheet of electric-photosensitive material is replaceable wound around a drum so that its opposite ends are spaced apart to provide a seam to affect the disablement of the laser beam from contracting the electro-photosensitive material during the non-printing portion of the period, and a separate light source used to detect this seam portion to determine the non-printing portion of the period.
