Provided is a hydrometallurgical process for nickel oxide ore by high pressure acid leach that achieves a high iron oxidation ratio. The carbon grade in ore slurry and the flow rate are measured to determine the amount of carbon to be fed, and then, sulfuric acid is added. The blowing ratio of high pressure air and high pressure oxygen is adjusted so as to attain an oxygen purity of 21% to 60%. While the oxygen purity is maintained, an oxygen blowing amount per weight of carbon contained in the ore slurry and fed in the second step is adjusted to 200 to 600 Nm, whereby ORP (Ag/AgCl basis) in the leaching treatment is controlled to 400 to 650 mV.

Hydrometallurgical process for nickel oxide ore

A hydrometallurgical method for nickel oxide ores, whereby the pH of a neutralized solution can be stabilized. The hydrometallurgical method comprises a sulfuric acid leaching step of leaching an ore slurry of a nickel oxide ore with sulfuric acid, a neutralization step of neutralizing a crude nickel sulfate aqueous solution by adding a neutralizing agent thereto, and a dezincification step of removing zinc as zinc sulfide by adding a sulfurizing agent to a neutralized solution; wherein in the neutralization step, the amount of the neutralizing agent added is adjusted using, as an index, a neutralizing agent addition ratio that indicates the amount of the neutralizing agent added relative to the amount of free sulfuric acid in the crude nickel sulfate aqueous solution.

An optical pick-up for reading information recorded on an optical record carrier as tracks including a light source emitting a light beam, a collimator lens for converting the light beam into a parallel light beam, a swingable tracking mirror for reflecting the parallel light beam, an objective lens for projecting the light beam reflected by the tracking mirror onto the record carrier, and a plano-parallelo plate arranged rotatably between the collimator lens and the tracking mirror. The plano-parallelo plate is rotated in accordance with the rotation angle of the tracking mirror such that the light beam reflected by the record carrier propagates along the same light path as that along which the light beam is made incident upon the record carrier and any off-set in the tracking error signal can be removed.

A magneto-optic player for reading an information signal stored in a magneto-optical record medium in the form of vertical magnetization including a semiconductor laser emitting a linearly polarized laser light beam, a beam splitter for transmitting the laser light beam, an objective lens for projecting the laser light beam transmitted through the beam splitter onto the record medium and for directing light reflected by the record medium, the light being subjected to Kerr rotation the rotational direction of which is dependent upon the direction of the vertical magnetization. A second quarter-wavelength plate arranged to receive the elliptically polarized light reflected by the beam splitter for converting it into elliptically polarized light the direction of the major axis of which is aligned with P-polarization or S-Polarization depending upon the rotational direction, a polarization beam splitter for splitting the elliptically polarized light into P-polarized and S-polarized components, two photodetectors for receiving the P-polarized and S-polarized components, respectively, and a differential amplifier for deriving a difference between outputs of the two photodetectors as a reproduced information signal.
