A child seat is constructed such that when the child seat is set facing the rear of the car on a car seat, the child seat is securely fixed on the seat. A handle surrounding the front of a sitting occupant is provided in a seat back portion of the child seat, and a tether extends from the handle. When the child seat is set on a car seat so that it faces the rear of the car, the tether is pulled toward the rear of the car. A hook on the tip portion of the tether is latched onto a tether anchor of the car behind the car seat, and the rear panel and the handle are joined.

A child seat device is formed of a base to be placed on a seat of a car, a child seat body placed on the base, and a connecting member for connecting a rear bottom of the child seat body to a fixed portion. The connecting member increases a length thereof while absorbing a kinetic energy of the child seat body when a tension higher than a predetermined value is applied thereto from the child seat body.

In a child seat device, a child seat body is connected to a base while a bar disposed at the front bottom thereof is engaged with a guide member disposed at the front of the base, and the child seat body is pivotally supported on the arms standing at the rear of the base via shafts on the right and left rear sides thereof. The guide member extends forward and upward from the front of the base. The bar is movable along the guide member. In the case of a head-on collision of the car, the child seat body pivots on the shafts, so that the bar swings along the guide member to reduce the load to be applied to a passenger.

A child seat is formed of a bottom squab on which buttocks of a child is seated, a seat back connected to the bottom squab for supporting a back of the child, and side walls disposed on side portions of the bottom squab and the seat back. An indicator for indicating an inclination angle of the child seat is arranged on a top of one of the side walls. In the child seat, the inclination angle of the seat can be easily checked through the indicator, thus facilitating the attachment of the child seat to a vehicle seat.

A locking device for a child seat includes slant faces, and a clamping unit having a tiltable clamping roller and a knob for tilting the roller. The slant faces may be formed on a base back of the child seat. A shoulder webbing is inserted between the roller and the slant face, and the clamping roller is tilted so that the webbing is clamped by the roller. The roller is positioned by a spring. The locking device can lock the shoulder webbing when a child seat is mounted either on a left vehicle seat or a right vehicle seat.

A seating board includes a board portion having a first surface on which a child with a small body is to be seated, and a second surface on which a child with a body larger than the small body is to be seated, which is located on a side opposite to the first surface. Clamp arms are attached to the board portion for attaching the seating board to a seat portion of a child seat. When the seating board is detached from the child seat, the child seat becomes a state suitable for a child larger than the infant. In case the seating board is disposed directly on a vehicle seat, the seating board becomes suitable for a middle size child. Thus, the seating board can be used for child occupants with various sizes.

A child seat is provided which can ensure to stop a seat plate at a desired level and which can easily allow the adjustment of the height of the seat plate. The seat plate having a front seat plate and a rear seat plate is supported to a seat body having a seat back such that the seat plate can be moved up and down. The seat plate is supported by front links and rear links. By moving backward or front ward a slide frame disposed on a lower surface of the seat plate, pins are guided by guide slits formed obliquely so that the pins advance or retreat to be in or out insertion holes.

A child seat is provided wherein the distance between shoulder belts can be adjusted in accordance with the adjustment of the height of a seat plate. The seat plate formed of a front seat plate and a rear seat plate is supported to a seat body attached to a seat back such that the seat plate can be moved up and down. The seat plate is supported by a front link and a rear link. As the seat plate is moved up and down, an interlocking member is also moved up and down so that shoulder belt guides engaged with elongated holes of the interlocking member slide closer to and apart from each other, thereby adjusting the distance between the shoulder belts.

A child seat is formed of a base; a seat body attached to the base and having a seat back; a seat plate disposed in the seat body; and a supporting mechanism for supporting the seat plate. The seat plate includes a front seat plate having a first engaging member, and a rear seat plate having a rear end slidably engaging a guide slit in the seat back and a second engaging member slidably engaging the first engaging member. The supporting mechanism includes a linkage situated between the base and the front seat plate to allow the front seat plate to move up and down. A stopping device is attached to the front seat plate to engage the seat body for stopping the front seat plate at a selected level relative to the base. When the seat plate is moved up and down, no unnecessary space is formed relative to the seat back.

A child seat capable of being easily and securely fixed to a vehicle seat. After placing the child seat on the vehicle seat and latching a tongue with a buckle, a belt is pulled by gripping a handle. Then, a lever of a tensioner is pivoted to increase the tension on the belt, thereby fixing the child seat. The tensioner includes two clamp portions. The belt is prevented from moving by the second clamp portion and the belt hung on a belt-hanging bar is pulled, thereby tightening the belt between the tensioner and the buckle.
