A high-performance optical and electronic integrated switch capable of effectively extending the transmission distance includes a network processor that controls the functions of the packet switch, a plurality of optical transceivers provided near the processor and having a photoelectric conversion function, and an optical relay switch. A plurality of optical waveguides are connected to the input and output sides of the optical relay switch. Each optical transceiver has a regeneration function that performs optical-electrical conversion on inputted optical signals, then turns back the converted signals, and performs signal conversion on them, and its input side is connected with a routing optical waveguide included in the optical waveguides on the output side of the switch and its output side is connected with a routing optical waveguide included in the optical waveguides on the input side of the switch. The optical waveguides include ones for connecting to an external communication counterpart.

Optical and electronic integrated switch

A wavelength monitoring apparatus includes a wavelength monitoring circuit. The wavelength monitoring circuit includes: a split circuit that splits an input optical signal into two; an optical delay circuit that applies a delay time difference to the two split optical signals; and a two-input two-output optical multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit that outputs a result of applying multiplexing interference to the optical signals to which the delay time difference has been applied. The wavelength monitoring apparatus further includes photoelectric conversion elements that perform photoelectric conversions on the two optical signals output from the wavelength monitoring circuit so as to output electrical signals. The present invention realizes an optical signal processing device that enables using a thermal oxidation silica film as the under clad of a silica PLC while also increasing the thickness of the under clad and reducing the time required for film growth during manufacturing. An optical and electronic integrated switch includes a network processor that controls the functions of the packet switch, a plurality of optical transceivers having photoelectric conversion functions, and a plurality of optical switches. The optical switches include different types of optical core switch and a plurality of optical-path selection switches. The optical transceivers provided near the processor have a regenerative relay function that regenerates optical signals and turns back the optical signals, and perform optical communication with a communication counterpart via the optical switches. In the optical communication, optical switches of the different types can cooperate to set paths for optical cut-through in which path selection is performed such that inputted optical signals are outputted without the intervention of the processor. This optical cut-through can be effectively performed without imposing a signal processing burden that consumes electric power on the processor.

A wavelength monitoring circuit obtains a light output proportional to only an input optical signal, independent of wavelength, by adding a light split circuit to the configuration in the related art, or changing the light split circuit to a light trifurcation circuit. In addition, wavelength monitoring with high accuracy is possible while improving the resistance to noise. The extraction of the light output proportional to only the input optical signal is performed by a light split circuit for input light at the top stage of the wavelength monitoring circuit or a light split circuit for interference in a stage in the middle of the circuit. The changed light split circuit causes the MZI included in the wavelength monitoring circuit to operate in a state of losing the balance of the configuration or the optical signal level, and increases the signal level near the bottom portion of the transmission characteristics.

The photo-electron fusion switch includes a network processor of an electronic circuit for controlling packet switch functions, a plurality of optical transmitter/receivers that can support coherent communications and has a photoelectric conversion function capable of transmitting and receiving optical signals different in transmission speed, an optical line switching device, and a plurality of multiplexing/separators. Each multiplexing/separator simultaneously transmits and receives respective optical signals different in transmission speed to and from the nodes via optical waveguides.

Optical and electronic integrated switch and optical network system

The invention provides a planar optical waveguide circuit capable of preventing part of the input signal light that has not been combined in the waveguide and propagates as leaked light from interfering with the output signal. A planar optical waveguide circuit having an optical waveguide embedded in a cladding layer includes: a plurality of parallel output optical waveguides configured to emit light from a same end face; a groove having a reflective interface formed at an angle of +45 degrees relative to the output optical waveguides and configured to reflect leaked light propagating in the cladding layer; and a groove having a reflective interface formed at an angle of &#x2212;45 degrees, the reflective interface formed at an angle of +45 degrees, the output optical waveguide, and the reflective interface formed at &#x2212;45 degrees being arranged repeatedly in that order.

Planar optical waveguide circuit

Provided is an optical wavelength multi/demultiplexing circuit with a high rectangular transmission loss spectrum that is able to secure loss flatness of a transmission band, maintain/reduce a guard bandwidth of wavelength channel spacing, and broaden a transmission bandwidth. The circuit uses a multimode waveguide for a connecting part between a field modulation device and an AWG. The field modulation device is constituted by a common input waveguide, an optical branching unit, optical delay lines, a multiplex interference unit, and a mode converter/multiplexer.

Variable wavelength filter

An optical signal processing device with a transponder aggregator function by which theoretical loss is not increased even if the number of necessary transponders is increased. Optical signals inputted from input ports are inputted to a PLC. The PLC has SBTs. The input ports are connected to the input-end SBT, and a plane wave is outputted from an output end of the PLC to the space side at an angle different for each input port. Optical signals outputted by the PLC are changed in their optical paths on the x-z plane by a cylindrical lens (Lsp) designed to refract optical signals in the x-axis direction, and are reflected by an LCOS at different regions corresponding to the positions of the input port. The reflected optical signals are incident on the output-end SBTs on the PLC, and are outputted to output ports via demultiplex parts.
