A failure diagnosis method for an inverter circuit includes a first monitoring step of monitoring an inter-terminal voltage between a high-potential-side terminal and a low-potential-side terminal of each of a plurality of driving devices included in the inverter circuit, and a second monitoring step of monitoring a power supply voltage of the inverter circuit. A determination step of determining whether there is a failure in each of the driving devices from a value of the inter-terminal voltage and a value of the power supply voltage is included.

Failure diagnosis method for inverter circuit

A motor control system includes plural control circuits and plural motor circuits. Each motor circuit includes an inverter circuit and a coil. The plural motor circuits are controlled by any one of the control circuits or controlled by the plural control circuits in combination. When any one of the control circuits controlling the motor circuits fails, the motor control system performs switching control so that the failing control circuit is disconnected while another normally-operating control circuit controls the corresponding motor circuit. The failure detection and switching control are performed smoothly and quickly to recover the motor control system from the failure, thus enhancing the reliability.

Motor control system and electric power steering system

A circuit board includes a power supply terminal connection assembly supplied with current from an external power supply, a first motor circuit that generates current to be supplied to a first winding, a first motor terminal connection assembly that supplies the current to the first winding from the first motor circuit, a second motor circuit that generates current to be supplied to a second winding, a second motor terminal connection assembly that supplies the current to the second winding from the second motor circuit, a first region, and a second region, in which the power supply terminal connection assembly is in the first region or the second region on a side of one end portion of a border line between the first and the second region, and the first and second motor terminal connection assemblies are on a side of another end portion of the border line.

Circuit board, motor driving apparatus, and electric power steering apparatus

A motor drive device includes a plurality of control systems that individually supply drive currents to a plurality of coil groups included in a motor. The motor drive device independently sets the current command values for the respective control systems. Based on the set current command values, drive instructions are supplied to drive circuits of inverters with respect to the respective control systems, thereby supplying drive currents from the inverters to the coil groups. The motor drive device detects a failure in any of the inverters and the coil groups with respect to each control system, and stops only the failed control system or causes only the failed control system to fall back. The motor drive device further includes a main computing device, and an auxiliary computing device. Consequently, if the auxiliary computing device is normal even in case the main computing device fails, driving of the motor can be continued using one or some of the control systems.

Motor drive device and electric power steering device

In this motor drive device, a motor case which stores a motor and a controller case which stores a controller of controlling the motor are unitarily coupled to each other in a direction of the rotating shaft of the motor. In addition, a connection portion for an external connector included in the controller is also provided in the direction of the rotating shaft of the motor. Such a structure achieves a small and compact structure which can be connected in the direction of the rotating shaft.

Motor drive device for electric power steering including heat sink and external connector

An electronic control apparatus configured to control electric power steering and provided integrally with an electric motor is electrically connected to an ignition switch and which assists a rotation operation of a steering column by rotation of the electric motor. A first magnetism detecting element configured to operate using power supplied via the ignition switch to output a first set of rotation angle signals of the electric motor. A second magnetism detecting element configured to operate continuously using continuously supplied power to output a second set of rotation angle signals of the electric motor. A controller configured or programmed to generate rotation angle information about the electric motor based on the first set of rotation angle signals and the second set of rotation angle signals outputted while the ignition switch is stopped and to calculate a position of a steering wheel from the generated rotation angle information.
