Video contents having language information including spoken voices in a plurality of languages can be efficiently played to support language learning. After removing line-free parts from the video contents, the video contents are divided into divided scenes each corresponding to one or two consecutive displays of subtitles. Each of selected scenes of the divided scenes selected by a user is played (i) a first predetermined number of times selected by the user, in one of first and second languages selected beforehand by the user, together with images; and (ii) then a second predetermined number of times selected by the user, in the other of the first and second languages, together with the images.

Image acquisition apparatuses, spectral apparatuses, methods and storage mediums for use with same are provided herein. At least one apparatus includes: a diffraction element irradiated by a light; a fiber for receiving reflected scattered light from a subject; a diffraction grating dispersing the transmitted light into light fluxes of wavelength bands again; an optical system imaging the split light fluxes; and an imaging device near the focal point of the optical system. An image is changed by rotating the diffraction grating, from which a two-dimensional image is acquired. The transmitted light may be branched into two or more, and input to a collimator lens and imaged as multiple spectral sequences by the optical system. At least one apparatus may form light fluxes traveling at different angles; and may acquire spectral information of the reflected and scattered light. Preferably, for the luminous fluxes, no gap exists in an image.

At least one apparatus or system may comprise a first waveguide; an optical system; and a diffraction grating. The first waveguide may be for guiding light from a light source to an output port of the first waveguide. The optical system may comprise at least a first reflecting surface and a second reflecting surface. The first reflecting surface may be arranged to reflect light from the output port of the first waveguide to the second reflecting surface. The second reflecting surface may be arranged to reflect light from the first reflecting surface back through the first reflecting surface to the diffraction grating. The diffraction grating may diffract light from the second reflecting surface in several lights/colors of non-zero diffraction orders in a first direction.

An image forming apparatus has an image forming unit and a feeding unit for feeding a recording material at a predetermined speed to the image forming unit. A reflective type sensor reads irradiated light reflected off of the recording material and an image reading unit reads the light so as to obtain a surface image of the recording material so that a feed control unit can control the feeding of the recording medium so that a moving distance is shorter and in the case of feeding it at a predetermined speed while the recording material is read by the image reading unit. In the image forming apparatus a reflective type determination unit determines a predetermined attribute of the recording material using the surface image of the recording material read by the image reading unit so that the image forming apparatus can determine a kind of recording material based on the attribute obtain so as to form the image on the recording material.
