A power source apparatus includes first equalizing circuits to control remaining charge capacity variation among a plurality of battery units, and second equalizing circuits to control remaining charge capacity variation among all the series-connected battery packs that make up each battery unit. A first equalizing circuit connects each battery unit with an output line OL through a first series circuit made up of a first limiting resistor and first equalizing switch. Remaining charge capacity variation is equalized among all the battery units by the first equalizing circuits, and remaining charge capacity variation between battery packs in each battery unit is controlled by the second equalizing circuits.

Power source apparatus

A battery pack including a thin outline battery in an external case. The external case is provided with openings exposing the front and back of the thin outline battery to the outside, and is formed in the shape of a rectangular frame which covers both sides and both ends of the thin outline battery. The thickness of the external case is essentially equal to the thickness of the thin outline battery, or the external case is made thinner than the thin outline battery.

A method of displaying the full-charge-state of a battery according to the invention is characterized in that the displaying is retarded by a predetermined period of time after the full-charge-state is detected. According to the method, the delay time is so determined that the battery which requires a shorter charging time needed to full-charge the battery has a longer delay time period than the battery requiring a longer charging time.

The method of charging a plurality of batteries uses a charging power supply to pulse charge a plurality of batteries to full charge by time-division switching of the battery being charged. Further, this charging method moves timing intervals forward to begin charging the next battery when charging of a fully charged battery is stopped.

In the method of charging a plurality of lithium ion rechargeable batteries, if another battery is attached during battery charging, open circuit voltages of those respective batteries are measured and compared. When the open circuit voltage of the battery attached later is greater than that of the battery being charged, charging of the previously attached battery is suspended and the battery attached later is given priority and charged. When the open circuit voltage of the battery being charged is greater than that of the battery attached later, the battery being charged is given priority and charged.

Method of charging a plurality of lithium ion rechargeable batteries

A secondary battery is charged with a constant voltage, while a charging current generated by the application of the constant voltage is monitored. After the charging current becomes smaller than a predetermined current value, an open circuit voltage of the secondary battery is sampled at a predetermined interval while substantially stopping charging. Charging is completed, when either a voltage difference between a terminal voltage of the secondary battery and the sampled open circuit voltage becomes smaller than a predetermined voltage difference value, the sampled open circuit voltage becomes bigger than a predetermined voltage value, or, a remaining charging time of a timer which is calculated based on the sampled open circuit voltage has elapsed. The method shortens the charging time and enables the correct detection of the fully charged state.

Method and apparatus for charging a secondary battery

Supplied selectively to a recording system circuit of a VTR are a first component signal comprising three primary color signals R, G and B and a second component signal comprising a luminance signal Y and two types of color difference signals P.sub.B and P.sub.R. The first and the second component signals pass through a group of LPFs (1, 2, 3) having the same pass characteristics and then are A/D converted at the same sampling clock. The component signal converted into a digital signal is applied to a matrix circuit 11. Respective coefficients of the matrix circuit are switched according to a type of the inputted component signal, and as a result, a second digital component signal is always outputted at a fixed delay time from the matrix circuit. Two color signal data which are over-sampled included in the second digital component signal are applied to decimation digital filters 14 and 15 to reduce data densities thereof.

A reproduced video signal of a VTR is applied to a jitter compensation circuit (100). The applied reproduced video signal is A/D converted by a phase modulated clock and after subjected to the adjustment of timing, the signal is written into a memory (4). A burst signal period is specified based on a timing of a horizontal synchronizing signal in the reproduced video signal and a jitter amount is detected based on a sampling phase of the A/D converted burst. Jitter compensation data is calculated based on this jitter amount. A focus area change circuit is provided with a vertical comparator (50) which compares coincidence of count values of a vertical counter (45) with designated vertical positions of a focus area and a horizontal comparator (51) which compares count values of a horizontal counter 49 with designated horizontal positions. A sampling pulse generator (52) generates sampling pulses on the basis of vertical and horizontal comparison outputs, which are respectively expanded for generating expansion sampling pulses. A selection circuit (56) selects the sampling pulses or the expansion sampling pulses so that a sampling circuit (32) samples outputs of a video camera on the basis of the sampling pulses or the expansion sampling pulses as selected. A focus motor is controlled to maximize the sampling outputs. Thus, the sampling pulses or the expansion sampling pulses are selected in response to the state of the object of image formation, thereby to enable selection of the focus area.
