There is provided a bearing apparatus of a crankshaft for an internal combustion engine. The bearing apparatus includes a crankshaft having a plurality of journal portions and a plurality of crank pin portions; a main bearing supporting the crankshaft; and a bearing housing holding the main bearing. The plurality of journal portions include a first journal portion having a lubricating oil passage and a second journal portion not having the lubricating oil passage. The first and second journal portions and are supported by the first and second main bearings and. The bearing housing includes an Al alloy upper housing and an Fe alloy lower housing. The groove depth of the oil groove of the upper half bearing of the second main bearing is one half or less than the groove depth of the oil groove of the upper half bearing of the first main bearing.

Bearing apparatus of crankshaft for internal combustion engine

A half bearing for supporting a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine is provided. The half bearing having a main semi-cylindrical part, two crush reliefs, and two transition regions. Each crush relief has a depth from a imaginary plane at a circumferential end surface of the half bearing greater than a depth from the imaginary plane at a connecting position between each crush relief and the transition region. A plurality of circumferential grooves extend in a circumferential direction in the main semi-cylindrical part along their entire length in the circumferential direction, and the plurality of circumferential grooves extend also in the transition region continuously.

Half bearing and plain bearing

A main bearing for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine is composed of a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings. An oil groove extending in a circumferential direction is formed on an inner circumferential surface of one semi-cylindrical bearing. The oil groove has the depth gradually decreasing toward a circumferential end surface of the one semi-cylindrical bearing, and defines a circumferential end portion on the circumferential surface without extending to an axial groove formed in a joint portion of the pair of semi-cylindrical bearings. An extension portion of the inner circumferential surface extends between the circumferential end portion and the axial groove, and a plurality of circumferential grooves extending in the circumferential direction is formed on the extension portion from the oil groove to the axial groove over an entire width of the circumferential end portion of the oil groove.

Main bearing for crankshaft of internal combustion engine

A main bearing for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine comprises a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings. An oil groove extends on an inner circumferential surface of one semi-cylindrical bearing in a circumferential direction so that the center thereof in an axial direction aligns with that of an inlet opening of a lubricating oil path in a journal section of the crankshaft. The oil groove does not extend up to an axial direction groove formed at a joint portion of the semi-cylindrical bearings so that a separation inner circumferential surface extends between a circumferential direction end portion of the oil groove and the axial direction groove. The length of the separation inner circumferential surface is smaller than that of the inlet opening in the circumferential direction.

A bearing apparatus for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine having a main bearing and a connecting rod bearing is provided. The main bearing comprises a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings, only one of which has an oil groove extending in a circumferential direction on an inner circumferential surface thereof. The oil groove is separated from an axial groove formed at a joint portion of the semi-cylindrical bearings by a separation inner circumferential surface of which a length Lin the circumferential direction is smaller than a length Lof an inlet opening of a journal portion in the circumferential direction. The connecting rod bearing also comprises a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings, and has axial grooves and crush reliefs with appropriate dimensions at joint portions thereof.

Bearing apparatus for crankshaft of internal combustion engine

A plain bearing for supporting a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine is provided. The plain bearing is constituted by a pair of semicylindrical members. A crush relief is formed in an inner circumferential surface of the semicylindrical member, and a main cylindrical surface is formed in a region aside from the crush relief. The crush relief includes an outwardly convex curved surface and an inwardly convex curved surface.

In at least one of the semi-cylindrical bearings, a front side circumferential groove is formed from the front side circumferential end surface, and in the opposed semi-cylindrical bearing, a rear side circumferential groove is formed from the rear side circumferential end surface. A circumferential length of the front side circumferential groove is larger than a circumferential length of the front side crush relief, and a circumferential length of the rear side circumferential groove is smaller than a circumferential length of the rear side crush relief.

A sliding bearing supporting a crankshaft journal portion of an internal combustion engine includes a semi-cylindrical bearing half provided with a circumferential oil groove on its inner surface. The circumferential oil groove has an open groove end at least at one of its two circumferential ends, one end being in the rotational direction of the crankshaft. The other cylindrical bearing half has at least one circumferential local groove on its inner circumferential surface with an open groove end at a second circumferential end directed in the opposite direction to the relative rotational direction of the crankshaft. The circumferential oil groove and the local circumferential groove are in fluid communication at a region where groove bottom of the local circumferential groove deviates toward the sliding bearing from another groove bottom of the circumferential groove. An axial groove is formed along a contact interface between the first and second circumferential ends.

Disclosed is a sliding bearing for an internal combustion engine for supporting a crankshaft including a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings combined with each other into a cylindrical body. Each of inner circumferential surfaces of the respective semi-cylindrical bearings includes first and second curved surfaces following two kinds of arcs with different curvatures. Sliding bearing for internal combustion engine

A connecting rod bearing in which a semi-cylindrical bearing has an inner circumferential groove that extends from an abutting end with respect to another semi-cylindrical bearing toward a circumferential center part of the semi-cylindrical bearing, and is in alignment with an outlet port of a lubricant oil passage, the abutting end being oriented toward the same direction as a direction of relative rotation of the crankpin with respect to the connecting rod bearing. The dimension are sized such that the connecting rod bearing is capable of preventing large size foreign substances from entering into the clearance defined along the inner surface of the connecting rod bearing even though foreign substances, accompanied in the lubricant oil which is fed to the connecting rod bearing from a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine through the journal portion of a crankshaft, is not caused to discharge from the connecting rod bearing.

A split-type sliding bearing for a crankshaft in an internal combustion engine incorporated in a split-type bearing housing. The sliding bearing consists of a pair of semi-cylindrical bearing bodies combined with each other to form a cylindrical body. The bearing housing has a cylindrical bearing retaining bore and consists of a pair of housing halves. One of the housing halves has a relatively lower stiffness, and the other has a relatively higher stiffness. One of the bearing bodies is held by the housing half having a relatively lower stiffness. The other bearing body is held by the housing half having a relatively higher stiffness. The bearing bodies have an equal outer diameter to each other, and both of the circumferential end parts of one bearing body have a larger thickness than those of the other bearing body prior to incorporation into the housing halves.

Disclosed is a sliding bearing consisting of a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings for supporting a crankshaft or a crank pin in an internal combustion engine. The sliding bearing is incorporated in a split-type bearing housing. One of the semi-cylindrical bearings being incorporated in at least one of the pair of housing halves, which one housing half has a relatively higher stiffness, is provided with a number of circumferential grooves on an inner surface of the semi-cylindrical bearing so as to extend circumferentially along the inner surface of the semi-cylindrical bearing. The circumferential grooves existing at least one circumferential end region of the inner surface of the semi-cylindrical bearing have a depth of not less than 10 &#x3bc;m, the circumferential end region including a circumferential bearing end face orientating a direction opposite to the rotation direction of the shaft or pin.

Bearing for connecting rod of internal combustion engine

A split-type sliding bearing for a crankshaft is formed of a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings halves which are fitted between a pair of housing halves having respectively high and low thermal expansion coefficients, one of the pair of bearing halves being supported on the housing half having a low thermal expansion coefficient, and the other of the pair of bearing halves being supported on the housing half having a high thermal expansion coefficient. The circumferential end zones of the bearing half supported on the housing half having a high thermal expansion coefficient have a thickness which is greater than that of the circumferential end zones of the bearing half supported on the housing half having a low thermal expansion coefficient.
