A resin composition utilizing coated resin moldings, the resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a crushed material of coated polyolefin resin moldings compounded with from 3 to 15 parts by weight of an ethylene polymer having a weight average molecular weight of from 50,000 to 180,000.

Resin composition utilizing coated resin moldings and multilayer resin

A process for producing a bumper of synthetic resin for use in an automobile, the bumper including a core and an outer layer covering the core. The process includes the steps of preparing a core forming material that includes a main component and a polyethylene added to the main component, the main component being produced by pulverizing a recovered bumper which has been formed using a polyolefin-based resin composition modified by an olefinic elastomer and which has a thermosetting synthetic resin coating film on its surface, and an outer layer forming material that includes the polyolefin-based resin composition modified by the olefinic elastomer and the polyethylene in a content A.sub.2 which is smaller than a content A.sub.1 of the polyethylene included in the core forming material (A.sub.2 &lt;A.sub.1); injecting the outer layer forming material through a feed channel into a bumper molding cavity in a mold; injecting the core forming material to flow into the outer layer forming material located in the feed channel and the cavity, and allowing the outer layer forming material and the core forming material to flow into the cavity; and pushing the outer layer forming material and the core forming material which are located in the feed channel into the cavity by the outer layer forming material thereby to form the core and the outer layer.

Process for producing automobile bumper made of synthetic resin

A multilayer resin molding, utilizing coated resin moldings, composed of a core material and a surface layer covering the core material, the core material being composed of a resin composition which comprises 100 parts by weight of a crushed material of coated polyolefin resin moldings compounded with from 3 to 15 parts by weight of an ethylene polymer having a weight average molecular weight of from 50,000 to 180,000 and the surface layer comprising a polypropylene resin composition comprising from 30 to 80% by weight of a propylene polymer, from 3 to 20% by weight of a propylene polymer modified with an unsaturated hydroxy compound, from 15 to 40% by weight of a thermoplastic elastomer, and from 0.1 to 10% by weight of an oligomer having a functional group at the terminal thereof.

Multilayer resin molding utilizing coated resin moldings

A bumper of synthetic resin for use in an automobile includes a core, and an outer layer covering the core. The material for forming the core includes a main component produced by pulverizing a recovered bumper which has been formed using a polyolefin-based resin composition modified by an olefinic elastomer and which has a thermosetting synthetic resin coating film on its surface, and a polyethylene added to the main component. The material for forming the outer layer includes the polyolefin-based resin composition modified by the olefinic elastomer and the polyethylene in a content A.sub.2 which is smaller than a content A.sub.1 of the polyethylene in the core forming material (A.sub.2 &lt;A.sub.1). The impact resistance of the core is enhanced with the addition of the polyethylene, despite the inclusion of the coating film particles. The outer layer is excellent in heat resisting characteristic, because of a smaller content of the polyethylene.

Bumper made of synthetic resin for automobile, and process for producing

Disclosed is a side protective moulding having a decorative section and a rib section. The decorative section has a protruding section protruding most with respect to a door, and a curved section extending aslant from the protruding section toward the door. The rib section has a hollow section formed on the back side of the protruding section and a reinforcing leg section extending from the hollow section toward the door. The side moulding is moulded by a hollow injection moulding process. Adopting this moulding process can improve the outside appearance of the side moulding by eliminating sink marks and wrinkles from the surface of the decorative section if a thick wall section for increasing side moulding rigidity and impact strength is formed on the back side of the decorative section.

Side protective moulding for automobiles

A molded protective strip for automobiles is prepared by the gas injection molding of a resin composition which comprises (A) 55 to 75% by weight of polypropylene, (B) 18 to 30% by weight of ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber, and (C) 10 to 20% by weight of talc, has a ratio (MI).sub.PP /(MI).sub.EPR of 10 or less, and a polydispersity index of 20 to 100. (MI).sub.PP and (MI).sub.EPR represents melt indices of the polypropylene of component (A) and the ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber of component (B), respectively. The polydispersity index is calculated from a frequency-storage modulus curve obtained with a composition consisting of components (A), (B), and (C) alone at the temperature of 230.degree. C. The molded protective strip can be prepared without using a vinyl chloride resin, shows almost no heat shrinkage, has a small coefficient of linear expansion, is excellent in dimensional stability, and exhibits excellent appearance.

Molded protective strip for automobiles

A polypropylene resin composition comprising: (a) 50 to 90% by weight of polypropylene, (b) 50 to 10% by weight of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer elastomer having a Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4 (100.degree. C.)) of 10 to 100, (c) 0.5 to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the total of the amounts of the components (a) and (b) of a linear olefinic polymer containing hydroxyl group which is liquid at room temperature, and (d) 0.5 to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the total of the amounts of the components (a) and (b) of a linear olefinic polymer having a melting point of about 70.degree. to about 90.degree. C. and a number-average molecular weight of 1500 to 6000 and containing hydroxyl group or carbonyl group; and a protective strip for automobiles using the polypropylene resin composition are disclosed. Coating immediately after degreasing is made possible and excellent property for coating can be provided by using the polypropylene resin composition.

Polypropylene resin composition and a molded article thereof

A polypropylene resin composition which comprises (A) 100 parts by weight of polypropylene, (B) 20-50 parts by weight of at least one elastomer selected from an ethylenic elastomer, an hydrogenated styrene-butadiene copolymer and a hydrogenated styrene-isoprene block copolymer, (C) 0.3.about.20 parts by weight of polycarbonatediol having a skeleton of aliphatic carbonate with both terminals being a hydroxyl group and (D) 0.about.50 parts by weight of an inorganic filler. The resin composition can provide a molded article having a good adhesive property to a film applied thereon without pretreatment by a halogen-containing solvent.

Polypropylene resin compositions, coating process for moldings thereof

A coated molded article having good adhesion to a coating film and resistance to gasohol as well as excellent appearance can be obtained by applying a primer coating to the surface of a molded article or irradiating the surface with plasma without applying any washing-treatment with a halogen atom-containing organic solvent and then applying a top coat onto the article, if the molded article is formed from a resin composition comprising (A)a polypropylene; (B)a specific ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer rubber; (C) a specific ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber; and (D) a specific polyhydroxypolyolefin, the amounts of these components (A) to (D) satisfying the following relations:

An air-fuel mixture heating device for heating an air-fuel mixture supplied from a carburetor to an intake manifold includes an insulator mounted between the carburetor and the intake manifold and having a first air-fuel mixture passage communicating with the primary air-fuel mixture passage in the carburetor, an electric heater disposed in the first air-fuel mixture passage of the insulator for heating the air-fuel mixture, and a plurality of conductors embedded in the insulator and having portions connected to the electric heater and an electric power supply. The insulator has access holes extending to the portions of the conductors for allowing said portions to be joined to the electric heater therethrough. The access holes are filled up with masses of sealing resin after said portions are joined to the electric heater. The conductors extend on one side of a second air-fuel passage in the insulator which communicates with the secondary air-fuel passage in the carburetor, the conductors having outer ends projecting as terminals out of the insulator laterally of the second air-fuel passage or remotely from the first air-fuel mixture passage.

Air-fuel mixture heating device for use with engines

A flow control honeycomb structure for use in an intake passage of an engine for producing turbulent flow in an air-fuel mixture flowing through the intake passage, which structure includes a short cylindrical peripheral wall defining therein a circular passage having a substantially circular cross section, a plurality of substantially crisscross partitions joined to and disposed in the peripheral wall and dividing the circular passage into a first group of square passageways each having a substantially square cross section and a second group of four triangular passageways each having a substantially triangular cross section and a relatively large cross-sectional area, and a plurality of ribs extending obliquely from joints of those of the passageways which define the triangular passageways radially outwardly to the peripheral wall through the triangular passageways to divide each of the triangular passageways into a plurality of subpassageways of substantially the same cross-sectional area as the square passages. The square and triangular passageways are progressively narrower downstream in the direction in which the air-fuel mixture flow through the intake passage. A method of making the flow control honeycomb structure molding without producing burrs and ridges in any portion of the final honeycomb structure is also disclosed.
