A hollow fiber membrane module and potting material can be used for chemical deaeration in a semiconductor production process, in printers, in a liquid crystal sealing process or in a chemical production process. A hollow fiber membrane module includes, as potting material , an epoxy resin cured product in which the weight change per unit surface area of a potting material test piece after immersing the test piece in a chemical for 6 months at room temperature is within the range of &minus;20 to &plus;20 mg/cm , and as housing , a polyolefin in which the weight change per unit surface area of a test piece after immersing the test piece in a chemical for 6 months at room temperature is within the range of &minus;20 to &plus;20 mg/cm , and the total metal content is 300 ppm or less. The module has a long service life when used for chemical treatment without leakage.

Hollow yarn membrane module, potting agent therefor and method for deaeration of liquid chemicals

The invention concerns a gas diffuser constructed and arranged to disperse gas into a aeration vessel of a water treatment assembly from a blower. The gas diffuser includes main pipes, branch pipes extending between the main pipes and containing gas discharge ports, wherein the branch pipes have a smaller cross-sectional area than the cross-sectional area of the main pipes. The gas discharge ports are further sized, constructed and arranged to reduce the possibility or likelihood of sludge from blocking the ports or entering the branch pipes. This object is achieved either by placement of the ports on the bottom sides of the branch pipes or, alternatively, by construction of the ports to include conduit members, themselves having an arrangement of openings or coverings to prevent or reduce the likelihood of sludge from blocking the ports or entering the branch pipes.

Gas diffuser for aeration vessel of membrane assembly

A method for cleaning separating membranes uses a uniquely formulated detergent. The detergent includes a percarbonate-containing, material, existing in the condition in which hydrogen peroxide is adducted in carbonate and is desirably an alkali metal salt. The percarbonate decomposes the organisms deposited on the membrane surfaces while being environmentally desirable. The detergent preferably also includes at least one bivalent iron salt, which improves the cleaning capability of the percarbonate via the so-called Fenton's reaction in which hydrogen peroxide adducted in the percarbonate reacts with the iron ions to form OH&mdash; radicals which have a very high oxidative reactivity. The detergent may also contain other oxidizers, a surfactant, a chelating agent, an acid and a pH regulator. The detergent is dissolved in water prior to use.

Method of cleaning membrane assembly with detergent

A membrane separator assembly for separating solids from water includes opposing enclosure wall structures, a membrane module unit, and a gas diffuser disposed below the membrane module unit. The membrane module unit includes a plurality of membrane modules respectively having at least one separating membrane extending between at least two membrane fixing members. At least one of the membrane fixing members has a main passage which is in fluid communication with a membrane passageway. The membrane passageway is accessible to water via permeation through the separating membranes and is inaccessible to solids which are impermeable relative to the separating membranes. The membrane separator assembly is preferably used with a detergent containing percarbonate, preferably sodium percarbonate. The assembly also includes a gas diffuser with two opposing main pipes and branch pipes extending therebetween to avoid undesired pressure differentials when cleaning the assembly.

A water purifier includes a diverter which can be detachably attached to a water faucet to select a plurality of water passages and a filter cartridge which can be detachably attached to the diverter to purify a water to be supplied through the diverter. The diverter is provided with a connector portion including a projection having a pair of guide grooves. The filter cartridge is provided with an engaging portion which can be inserted and fitted in the guide grooves. Disclosure is also directed to a diverter which includes a substantially cylindrical body which defines therein a main water passage to be connected to the faucet, and a rotatable selecting member which can be coaxially and rotatably fitted on the substantially cylindrical body and which is provided with a plurality of branch water passages which can be selectively registered with the main water passage of the substantially cylindrical body in accordance with the rotation of the selecting member.

Waste water containing finely divided oily materials and solid materials suspended therein can be clarified by (1) forwarding the waste water successively through a plurality of fibrous strata which are arranged along a path of the waste water and each of said strata is composed of a mass of hydrophilic organic polymer fibers compressed in such a manner that the closer the location of a fibrous stratum is to the supply source of the waste water, the greater the gaps on the average are formed between the fibers in the stratum, while allowing the particles of the finely divided oily materials to coarsen and to catch and collect finely divided solid materials into the coarsened particles; (2) after passing through each of the fibrous strata, introducing the waste water into a space in which the coarsened particles are allowed to float and form a separate layer of the oily materials containing the solid materials on the upper surface of the waste water in the space; (3) discharging the oily materials containing the solid materials from each of the separate layers; and (4) delivering the clarified water.
