Selecting payment instruments for proxy card transactions comprises associating a plurality of financial accounts with a user proxy account; establishing a model for the user account based on configuration data received from a user, the model comprising identification of a particular financial account to use as a backing instrument for a transaction; receiving data associated with a pending transaction regarding the pending transaction; identifying a financial account to use as a backing instrument for the pending transaction based on a comparison of the model with the pending transaction data; receiving a selection of an alternate financial account to use instead of the identified financial account as the backing instrument; modifying the model account based on the selection of the alternate financial account and the data associated with the pending transaction; and utilizing the modified model in a subsequent selection of a financial account for a subsequent transaction.

In an embodiment, a system includes a network-based resolution module. The network-based resolution module is configured to receive information relating to a plurality of disputes relating to transactions involving a common entity. The disputes are associated with two or more payment processing systems. The system further includes a unified interface. The unified interface is associated with the resolution module, and it is configured to provide information relating to disputes that are associated with at least one of the two or more payment processing systems.

A method for maintaining a prepaid payment system comprises a user account that can be utilized to complete a purchase transaction with a merchant. A delayed processing window is introduced between a time when the merchant receives a payment approval notification from the payment system and a time when the payment system transmits a payment request to an issuer of a funding account associated with the user's payment system account. The payment system utilizes a user's stored value account maintained by the payment system to satisfy the requirements of a prepaid program, and therefore processes the payment request received from the merchant and transmits the payment approval notification without obtaining prior authorization from the issuer of the funding account. The payment system submits one or more payment requests for the funding transaction at a time after the completion of the purchase transaction between the user and the merchant.

In one embodiment, a provider server may offer resources and an application server may offer functionality not provided by the resources of the provider server. A user request may be received through the source user interface. A determination may be made whether the user request contains a request to access a functionality that is not offered by the provider but is offered by an application that is communicatively coupled to the provider via a network. In response, an electronic communication may be established between the provider and the application via a network. A policy of the provider may be accessed from a first database, and interface definition data may be accessed from a second database different from the first database. Target interface data may be rendered based on the policy of the provider and the interface definition data.

Methods and system for interface data utilization are described. In one embodiment, source interface data may be provided from a provider. The source interface data may be capable of being used to provide a source user interface for a networked resource associated with the provider. A user request may be received through the source user interface. A service call may be provided over a network to an application based on the receiving of the user request. The application may be associated with an application manager. Response data may be received over the network from the application based on the service call. Target interface data may be rendered based on the response data. The target interface data may be provided from the provider.

Novel features to be used in a proxy card payment system include a real-time request to override a declined transaction or to select a different financial account and the insertion of user identification information into the transaction approval message sent to the merchant. A payment request is forwarded to the payment system, which maintains the proxy card account and determines whether the transaction violates a user-defined rule. If the transaction is declined by the issuer that maintains the financial account, or the payment system for violation of a user-defined rule, the payment system sends a real-time message to the user. The user is prompted to override the rule causing the transaction to be declined or to select a new account to process the transaction. Once the payment system receives authorization for the transaction, it inserts the user identification information in an approval message before transmitting the approval to the merchant.

Some embodiments may provide a method comprising receiving an identification of an entity from a network-based commerce system and receiving authentication data associated with the entity from the network-based commerce system, a combination including the authentication data and the identification being operable to facilitate a transfer of value affecting a first account associated with the entity, the transfer of value further affecting a second account associated with the network-based commerce system, the authentication data and the identification of the entity being insufficient for the network-based commerce system to identify the first account.

Methods and system for processing transfer requests are described. In one embodiment, a value transfer request may be received from a value provider through a network. The value transfer request may include a value amount to be provided from a source user to a target user. A settlement account of the value provider may be reduced by the value amount. A target account of the target user may be increased by the value amount.
