A wheeled work machine includes a rigid frame assembly having a support with a boom pivot. A front wheel assembly is joined to the frame assembly proximate the support, while a rear wheel assembly is joined to the frame assembly at an end remote from the support. The frame assembly further supports an engine, operator platform and cargo support. The operator platform is supported by the frame assembly between the boom pivot and the engine, while the cargo support is disposed behind the operator platform.

An electrostatic spray system has a support for a liquid container, and the high voltage components mounted through isolators for providing electrical insulation relative to a low voltage or grounded support. The liquid container is connected to a pump that provides the liquid under pressure, after an electric charge is applied to the liquid on the exterior of the liquid container. The liquid container has an open top, and a sprinkler head adds liquid to the liquid container. The sprinkler head is mounted on the low voltage support, but all high voltage components are electrically isolated from low voltage components to insure there is little current leakage back to ground.

A lock cylinder for a backhoe slide frame which provides for a positive lock of the slide frame in selected positions is described. The slide frame is supported on two generally horizontal rails that are vertically spaced, and the lock cylinders mount between the vertically spaced rails. The lock cylinders each have a piston that acts to hold the slide frame seated against the upper one of the rails. The piston also provides a wedging action on at least one rail to hold the slide frame from fore and aft movement relative to the rail.

An articulated vehicle includes an articulated frame formed by front and rear frame sections which are pivotally joined. A hydraulic motor is coupled to a front pair of wheels rotatably mounted to the front frame section. An oscillating axle assembly which includes a rear pair of wheels is pivotally mounted to the rear frame section for rotation about an axis oriented parallel to the longitudinal extent of the vehicle. The rear pair of wheels are coupled to the front pair of wheels through a drive assembly. A transverse torsion bar is rotatably mounted to the rear frame section. A pair of torsion arms are rigidly mounted to opposite ends of the torsion bar and extend rearwardly toward the oscillating axle assembly. A pair of links are pivotally coupled to the torsion arms via a pair of pivot mounts. Further pivot mounts pivotally couple opposite ends of the links to opposite ends of the oscillating axle assembly. Pivotal movement of the oscillating axle assembly imparts a twisting motion to opposite ends of the torsion bar. The torsion bar resists the twisting motion and brings the oscillating axle assembly back to a level state.

A mounting device for attaching an accessory apparatus to an off road vehicle. The mounting device includes a carrier frame mounted to the accessory and a mounting frame attached between the actuating arms of the off road vehicle. The mounting frame includes a bar member that is engageable with an overhanging member on the carrier frame to form a load bearing connection between the vehicle and the accessory apparatus. The mounting device further includes a pair of lug members secured to the carrier frame that are releasibly engageable with horizontally directed openings formed in hooks attached to opposite sides of the vehicle. Adjacent each of the lugs is mounted a movable over center locking mechanism that is movable between a locked position wherein the lugs are locked to the hooks to secure the accessory to the vehicle, and an unlocked position which allows the lugs to be removed from the openings in the hooks. Each of the over center locking mechanisms include a pivotable locking pawl engageable with the hook, an operating lever and a spring biased link which couples the pawl to the operating lever.

A backhoe is mounted to a rear portion of a loader by means of a locking sideshift mount. The sideshift mount includes a main frame fixedly mounted to the loader, and a slide frame which is slidably mounted to the main frame for transverse movement between the left and right sides of the loader. A pair of locking apertures open downwardly from a lower surface of the slide frame. A pair of stabilizers are mounted to the rear portion of the loader, adjacent the left and right sides of the main frame. Locking pins on the stabilizers extend upward and are cooperable with the locking apertures. When the slide frame and backhoe are positioned on the left or right side of the main frame, and the stabilizers retracted by hydraulic cylinders, the locking pins will engage the slide mount and prevent movement of the backhoe.

An excavating vehicle includes an operator compartment, a front end loader, a backhoe and a hydrostatic drive having a hydraulic pump. An operator seat is mounted in the operator compartment and rotates between a drive position facing the front end loader, and a backhoe control position facing the backhoe. When the seat is in its drive position, the operator controls the hydrostatic drive and drives the vehicle by actuating a foot pedal mounted in the front of the operator compartment and coupled to the hydrostatic drive by a linkage. Backhoe control levers and a creep lever are pivotally mounted in the back of the operator compartment at a location accessible to the operator when the operator seat is in the backhoe control position. A bell crank is movably mounted adjacent the creep lever and is coupled to the foot pedal by a linkage mechanism.

An attaching structure for securing a detachable hydraulically operated attachment to a vehicle. There is a source of hydraulic pressure on the vehicle. Hydraulic fluid from the source is circulated through valves and conduits to and from hydraulic devices which are carried by and operate the attachment. The valve which controls the hydraulic fluid to the attachment is mounted on the attachment, and remains with the attachment when the attachment is detached from the vehicle.

A mechanism for mounting a backhoe on a vehicle including a backhoe mounting subframe having a downwardly extending work position and a transport position in which it is pivoted upwardly and outwardly from the work position. The backhoe mounting subframe is pivotally mounted about an axis transverse to the frame of the vehicle. The backhoe mounting subframe is movable at the operator's option between the work position and the transport position, and means are provided for positively latching the backhoe mounting subframe to the vehicle frame either at the work position or at the transport position.
