A method is provided for evaluating a set of measurement data from an oral glucose tolerance test. The method may include calculating a similarity measure that quantifies the similarity between a time profile of the series of measured data of the glucose concentration and a corresponding glucose reference profile. The method may include calculating a further similarity measure that quantifies the similarity between the profile of the series of measured values of the further analyte concentration and the corresponding analyte sample profile, wherein the data set is represented by a point in a vector space that comprises coordinate axes that are formed by the similarity measures, whereby the coordinates of said point contain the calculated values of the similarity measures. The method also may include evaluating the position of the point with respect to reference points, which each represent a defined state of health, in order to calculate a parameter that specifies the state of the glucose metabolism of the patient.

The enzyme layer is in the form of multiple fields that are arranged on the conductor of the working electrode at a distance from each other.

The invention concerns a device for collecting body fluids which has at least one lancet comprising a lancet body with at least two tips of different lengths. The device is characterized in that it has a selection means with the aid of which only one tip is selected before the lancing. This selection means can have different functions and shapes. The selection means is used to select a tip from a plurality of lancet tips which have different lengths and make only this tip available for use in the lancing process. Since the various tips are attached to a lancet body, it is, for example, possible to use a bending element which bends one of the various tips out of the plane of the lancet body in order to provide only one lancet tip for use. This is especially preferable for lancet tips that are arranged linearly relative to one another.

Multi-lancet device

The present invention provides a puncturing system for withdrawing body fluid. The puncturing system comprises a disposable puncturing unit, which includes a needle element for piercing into skin and a puncturing depth reference element with a skin contact area. The system includes a puncturing instrument which has a puncturing drive, wherein the puncturing drive is coupled by a coupling mechanism to the puncturing unit for driving the needle element to a puncturing depth, the puncturing depth being determined by the distance in the piercing direction between the skin contact area and the position of the tip of the needle at a reversal point of the puncturing movement. The puncturing depth reference element is connected to the needle element such that the puncturing depth reference element moves with the needle element during at least part of the puncturing movement. The puncturing depth reference element has a defined longitudinal position in the piercing direction relative to the needle element at least at the reversal point of the puncturing movement.

Puncturing system for withdrawing a body fluid

The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the glucose concentration in tissue fluid whereby test values for glucose and for an endogenous reference substance are detected in a sample liquid obtained by microdialysis, microperfusion or ultrafiltration, and the glucose value is corrected in accordance with the test value for the reference substance. The recovery rate for glucose is determined from a non-linear relationship with the recovery rate for the ionic reference substance, and the test value for glucose is corrected therewith. In addition, the concentration of lactate and/or pyruvate is used as a further reference substance in the sample liquid to make further corrections.

Method for determining glucose concentration in tissue fluid

A system for analyzing a bodily fluid is described, which contains at least one lancing element, such as a lancet, stored in a first magazine, and at least one test element with a detection area, stored in a second magazine, the detection area containing reagents if necessary for use in detecting the analyte. The system also includes a housing, which encloses at least part of the first magazine and the second magazine and includes an opening for placement of a body part. At least one of the lancing elements and at least one of the test elements are located below the opening, and one of the magazines is located at least partly between the opening and the other magazine. The two magazines may at least partially overlap. The lancing element and the test element may be moved toward the opening so the body part resting on the opening can be lanced with the lancing element and the emerging bodily fluid can be collected using the test element at the same opening.
