Metal-containing ionic liquids can demonstrate a sharply increased viscosity relative to the same ionic liquids without the metal cation. Metal-containing ionic liquid compositions are disclosed that contain viscosity modifiers that reduce viscosity. Metal-containing ionic liquids are applicable to methods and within systems designed for the purpose of removing and recovering certain components of process streams such as ethylene, isobutane, or both. Methods for removing and recovering ethylene from process streams are also disclosed herein as having increased ethylene removal capacity concurrently with reductions in viscosity without corresponding reductions in metal cation concentrations.

Metal-containing ionic liquids with reduced viscosity

The present disclosure relates to the integration of systems and methods associated with steam cracking, oligomerization reactions, hydrogenation reactions, and aromatization reactions for the production of benzene via the hydrogenation of oligomers produced from ethylene. In some aspects, the disclosed systems and methods utilize one or more of an oligomerization process, a hydrotreating process, and an aromatization process for producing a benzene comprising effluent. In further aspects, the systems and methods disclosed herein utilize one or more selective oligomerization catalyst systems.

Flexible benzene production via selective-higher-olefin oligomerization of ethylene

Disclosed is a heteroatomic ligand-metal compound complex transition-state model which has been developed for activity, purity, and/or selectivity for selective ethylene oligomerizations, and density functional theory calculations for determining heteroatomic ligand-metal compound complex reactivity, product purity, and/or selectivity for ethylene trimerizations and/or tetramerizations. Using reaction ground states and transition states, and/or reaction ground states and transition states in combination with the energetic span model, this disclosure reveals that a chromium chromacycle mechanism, there are multiple ground states and multiple transition states, which can account for activity, purity, and/or selectivity for selective ethylene oligomerizations. Based on the reaction ground states and transition states, and/or reaction ground states and transition states in combination with the energetic span model, the methods disclosed herein can qualitatively and semi-quantitatively used to predict relative heteroatomic ligand-metal compound complex activity, purity, and/or selectivity and lead to a successful process for catalyst design and implementation, in which new ligands can be successfully identified and experimentally validated.

Machine learning and statistical analysis for catalyst structure prediction and design

A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 55 wt. % Cmono-olefins contains 1-decene, 2-butyl-1-hexene, 3-propyl-1-heptene, 4-ethyl-1-octene, 4-penten-1-yl-cyclopentane, and 5-methyl-1-nonene. A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 60 wt. % Cmono-olefins contains 1-dodecene, 6-hepten-1-yl-cyclopentane, heptylcyclopentane and n-dodecane. A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 60 wt. % Cmono-olefins contains 1-tetradecene, 8-nonen-1-yl-cyclopentane, n-tetradecane, and nonylcyclopentane.

Heavy oligomer compositions of a selective 1-hexene and 1-octene catalyst

Process for producing alpha olefins comprising contacting ethylene, a zirconium based catalyst system comprising, a hydrocarbylmetal compound, a chain transfer agent, and optionally an organic reaction medium. Chain transfer agents which can be utilized include a) hydrogen, b) a compound comprising a hydrogen silicon bond, a compound having a hydrogen sulfur bond, a compound having a hydrogen phosphorus bond, or c) a transition metal compound chain transfer agent.

Ethylene oligomerization processes

This disclosure provides new methods for the design and development of ethylene polymerization catalysts, including Group 4 metallocene catalysts such as zirconocenes, which are based on an improved ability to adjust co-monomer incorporation into the polymer. Computational analyses with and without dispersion corrections revealed that designing catalyst scaffolds which induce stabilizing non-covalent dispersion type interactions with incoming α-olefin co-monomers can be used to modulate co-monomer selectivity into the polyethylene chain. Demonstrated herein is a lack of correlation of computed ΔΔGvalues against experimental ΔΔGvalues when the dispersion correction (D3BJ) was disabled, and B3LYP was used in the absence of Grimme's D3 dispersion and Becke-Johnson (BJ) dampening, but a correlation of computed against experimental ΔΔGwith B3LYP+D3BJ, which are used to design new catalyst scaffolds.

Modulating co-monomer selectivity using non-covalent dispersion interactions in group 4 olefin polymerization catalysts

Disclosed herein are oligomerization processes in which ethylene and a catalyst system are first combined for a suitable residence time in an activation vessel, prior to introduction into a reaction zone to oligomerize ethylene to form a desired oligomer product, such as 1-hexene and/or 1-octene. Related oligomerization reaction systems that include the activation vessel also are disclosed. In these oligomerization processes and reaction systems, the catalyst system can be fully activated as it leaves the activation vessel and enters the reaction zone, thus providing greater catalyst utilization and less catalyst waste.

Oligomerization catalyst system activation and related ethylene oligomerization processes and reaction systems

A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 55 wt. % Cmono-olefins containing from 11 to 45 wt. % 1-decene, at least 0.5 wt. % 2-butyl-1-hexene, at least 1 wt. % 3-propyl-1-heptene, from 0.5 to 12 wt. % 4-ethyl-1-octene, at least 4 wt. % 4-penten-1-yl-cyclopentane, and from 2 to 40 wt. % 5-methyl-1-nonene. A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 60 wt. % Cmono-olefins containing at least 8 wt. % 1-dodecene and at least 0.5 wt. % 6-hepten-1-yl-cyclopentane, and the composition also containing heptylcyclopentane and n-dodecane at a weight ratio of heptylcyclopentane to n-dodecane from 0:3:1 to 8:1. A Chydrocarbon composition of greater than 60 wt. % Cmono-olefins containing at least 12 wt. % 1-tetradecene and at least 0.5 wt. % 8-nonen-1-yl-cyclopentane, and the composition also containing from 3 to 30 wt. % of n-tetradecane and nonylcyclopentane.
