An agricultural harvester includes a grain processing section having a sieve assembly. The sieve assembly includes right and left frames interconnected by a cross member. The cross member has end castings securable to the right and left frame members. An elongated U-shaped sheet metal member extends between the castings. An elongated slot at each of the U-shaped sheet metal member terminates in a circular hole. The slot and circular hole accommodate variations in forming tolerances for the U-shaped sheet member and dissipate stresses.

A cleaning system for an agricultural combine harvester includes a sieve having a periphery and an interference member located at the periphery. A chaffer frame carries the sieve, and includes a clamp with a pair of spring fingers positioned on either side of the interference member, thereby retaining the sieve within the chaffer frame.

A method of controlling operation of a side-shaking mechanism in a combine is provided. The method includes enabling the side-shaking mechanism, and moving the side-shaking mechanism to a predetermined zero position. The method includes receiving incline data representing the inclination of the combine, and receiving sensed data representing at least one operating condition of a combine system. The method includes causing the side-shaking mechanism to increase the distance of movement of the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion, or decrease the distance of movement of the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion.

Methods for controlling a side-shaking mechanism in a combine

A combine side-shaking control system includes a sieve for separating crop material from other materials and a movable side-shaking mechanism coupled to the sieve and configured to move the sieve in a side-to-side motion. The control system also includes also includes first and second grain loss sensors configured to sense amounts of grain loss from separate portions of the sieve. The control system further includes a controller configured to: (i) receive a first grain loss value corresponding to the sensed first amount of grain loss and a second grain loss value corresponding to the sensed second amount of grain loss; and (ii) cause the side-shaking mechanism to control movement of the sieve in the side-to-side motion based on at least one of the received first grain loss value and the received second grain loss value.

Combine side-shake cleaning control system

A speed select shift mechanism for a belt drive assembly to be installed on a shaft capable of shifting between high, low and neutral speeds is disclosed. The shift mechanism includes a shift collar that is enclosed within an enclosure to prevent debris from contacting the inner operations of the shift mechanism and thereby reduce wear and tear of the shift mechanism along with down time for maintenance of the device. The shift mechanism includes a shaft, a first pulley, a shift collar, a second pulley and a shifter. The shift collar further includes dowels that cooperatively engage corresponding apertures on the pulleys.

A combine side-shaking control system and a method for controlling operation of a side-shaking mechanism in a combine. The control system includes at least one sieve for separating crop material from other materials and a movable side-shaking mechanism coupled to the at least one sieve and configured to move the at least one sieve in a side-to-side motion. The control system also includes at least one sensor for sensing at least one operating condition of a combine system. The control system further includes a controller for receiving the at least one operating condition and causing the side-shaking mechanism to stop moving the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion or start moving the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion based on the at least one operating condition.

A conversion kit for automating a foldable and unfoldable grain tank extension for an agricultural combine is provided. The conversion kit includes a first bracket assembly for attaching to a first grain tank extension, a second bracket assembly for attaching to a second grain tank extension and a control actuator. The control actuator extends between and is operatively connected to the first and second bracket assemblies for moving the first and second brackets between a folded position and an unfolded position. A torque rod assembly extends between and is operatively connected to third and fourth grain tank extensions. A reverse drive engaging mechanism for a feeder of an agricultural combine, including a power unit including a drive motor having an output gear drivingly rotatable by the motor about an output axis therethrough, and support structure supporting the power unit and configured to be fixedly mounted proximate to a drive gear of a mechanism to be reversed. The support structure supports the power unit such that when the support structure is mounted the output axis will be substantially parallel to a drive axis about which the drive gear is rotatable, and the support structure allows the power unit to be moved substantially linearly in a transverse direction relative to the axes between a disengaged position wherein the output gear is disengaged from the drive gear, and an engaged position wherein the output gear is engaged with the drive gear. The mechanism includes an actuator controllably operable for linearly moving the power unit at least from the disengaged position to the engaged position, the actuator being operable for initially causing initial rotation of the output gear during the engagement with the drive gear, and a mechanism for withdrawing or disengaging the output from the drive gear after use.

A crop residue chopper for an agricultural combine including a spaced array of stationary knives. A rotor of the chopper is rotatable about an axis therethrough and includes mounting elements in axially spaced relation, and a plurality of offset knives, each of the offset knives including a mounting end portion fixedly mountable on one of the mounting elements and a an opposite free end portion disposed so as to extend radially outwardly in axially offset relation to the mounting end portion when mounted on the mounting element. The offset knives are mountable in pairs on the mounting elements in a fine chopping configuration wherein the free end portions of the knives of each of the pairs are offset in a predetermined first relation to the mounting ends thereof, respectively, and define a space between the free end portions having a predetermined first axial extent for passage of the offset knives of each of the pairs on opposite sides of one of the stationary knives when the rotor is rotated for performing a fine cutting function. Alternatively, selected ones of the offset knives are mountable singly on the mounting elements in a predetermined coarse chopping configuration with the free end portions of the selected ones of the knives offset in an opposite direction from when in the fine chopping configuration so as to define axial spaces between adjacent ones of the free end portions having a predetermined second axial extent greater than the first axial extent for passage in proximity to at least one of the stationary knives when the rotor is rotated, for performing a coarse cutting function.

A foldable extension for increasing a grain holding capacity of a grain tank of an agricultural harvesting machine. The grain tank includes angularly related upper peripheral portions defining an upwardly facing opening, and the extension includes a corresponding number of extension panels mounted for pivotal movement about the respective upper peripheral portions of the grain tank. Each of the extension panels is pivotally positionable in a deployed position extending upwardly and outwardly relative to the opening of the grain tank at an acute angle of less than about 80&deg; to horizontal, and a generally horizontal folded position extending over a portion of the opening, adjacent ones of the extension panels having adjacent ends defining corner spaces therebetween when in the deployed position. The extension additionally includes foldable corner panels connected between the adjacent ends of the adjacent ones of the extension panels, respectively, each of the corner panels including hinge joints hingedly connecting the corner panel to the adjacent ends and additional hinge joints dividing the corner panel into sections hingedly movable in predetermined directions between predetermined positions about the hinge joints, such that when the extension panels are in the deployed position the sections will be located in a generally side-by-side predetermined relation extending upwardly and outwardly from the opening of the grain tank, and such that when the extension panels are in the folded position the sections will be at least generally horizontal and in overlaying relation one relative to another.
