An intubation device for placing a tracheal tube into a patient's trachea. The intubation device comprises a flexible light-wand having light emitting means placed in a distal end portion thereof. A distal portion of the flexible light-wand is adapted for placement inside the tracheal tube with the distal end portion thereof being in proximity to a distal end of the tracheal tube. The intubation device further comprises a coupling conduit. The coupling conduit has a tracheal tube port for being connected to the tracheal tube placed at a distal end thereof, a ventilating port for being connected to a ventilatory source, a monitoring port for being connected to a respiratory gas monitor, and a sealed aperture placed at a proximal end thereof. The sealed aperture accommodates the flexible light wand therethrough in a sealed fashion such that ventilating and monitoring of the patient is enabled while the flexible light wand is placed in the tracheal tube.

Tracheal intubation device

Methods and devices for monitoring and/or controlling delivery of a fluid to a patient monitor a level of the fluid and generate an alarm and/or block flow of the fluid through a flexible delivery tube to the patient in response to detecting that the fluid level has dropped below a predetermined level. A device for monitoring and/or controlling delivery of the fluid to a patient is removeably mountable to a fluid delivery assembly having the delivery tube. When the device is configured to control delivery of the fluid, the device automatically reconfigures from a first configuration in which fluid is allowed to flow through the delivery tube to a second configuration in which the delivery tube is in a deformed state via the device to block flow of fluid through the delivery tube upon the device detecting that the fluid level is below the predetermined level.

Fluid level monitoring device

An opioid formulation for pulmonary administration in the treatment or management of pain, a pulmonary drug delivery device containing, method of administering, kit containing, and uses of same. The formulation contains at least one rapid-onset opioid and preferably also contains a sustained-effect opioid to reduce the frequency of administration. The invention employs the side effects of the opioid formulation to permit patients to self-limit drug intake, thereby avoiding toxicity while achieving analgesia. A pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic model is employed to determine optimum drug formulations and optimum parameters for administration.

Opioid delivery system

This invention relates to a device to monitor the administration of a fluid through a conduit, such as intravenous fluid, and detect the completion of fluid delivery by monitoring the fluid level inside a chamber. The device will monitor, through an optical fluid sensor comprising a radiation source, two sensors, a logic means, and an indicating means, the bottom half of any 'user supplied' drip chamber that is normally full during the administration of fluids. When the fluid level in the chamber drops below a predetermined level, the indicating means will initiate an electromechanical device that releases a pinching device to occlude the conduit. The pinching device is a rotary pincher that derives its force from a torsion spring and is held in the open position by the electromechanical device.
