A dual chamber sachet with a dispensing outlet can be made in a form/fill sequence by attaching the dispensing outlet to the film that is to form the chamber divider wall followed by attaching films that are to form the outer walls of the sachet to the dispensing outlet. The upper and side lateral edges of the sachet then are sealed together to produce a sachet with an open bottom end. The sachet can be produced from three film sources, two film sources with the outer walls being formed from a single film, or from a single film formed into a W-shape. The sachet preferably is filled through the open bottom end and the bottom end then sealed. However the sachet can be top filled through the nozzle. The sachets then are severed one from the other by cutting along a lateral seal and packed into a carton, or preformatted along a lateral seal and cut to produce a string of a set number of sachets. The sachets can have a single use dispensing outlet or a reclosable dispensing outlet. Larger sachets will have a reclosable dispensing outlet.

Method of making dual chamber sachet

The present dual chamber sachet overcomes the problem of non-uniform dispensing when the sidewalls of the sachet are depressed. Through the use of a relatively thin intermediate divider wall, rounded corner edges at the lower end of each chamber of the sachet, tapered side edges up to the exit channel of each chamber of the sachet, and a relatively wide dispensing opening uniform dispensing can be achieved. This structure prevents the downward flow of substances in each chamber during dispensing. The substances are directed upwardly by the rounded lower corners of the sachet, the tapered upper walls and the wide dispensing opening. This relatively wide dispensing opening minimizes the back pressure caused by the substances flowing to a dispensing exit of a width less than that of the product chambers.

A dispensing device for gels and other viscous materials includes a container containing the gel or viscous material and a dispenser. The dispenser has a substantially planar structure and includes a plurality of raised areas and recessed areas. The raised areas include a plurality of holes defining dispensing outlets for the viscous material. The dispenser rests on the surface of the viscous material so that a downward pressure applied to the dispenser forces the viscous material through the dispensing outlets. The recessed areas collect excess water and debris to prevent contamination of the viscous material within the container. The raised areas may be in the form of concentric annular ring shaped areas or elongated radially disposed raised areas which extend outwardly from the center of the dispenser toward the outer edge. The outermost edge of the dispenser may include a plurality of flexible tabs which contact the side wall of the container as the contents of the container are consumed. The recessed areas can be complementary to recessed areas in the bottom of the container and fit into the recessed areas in the bottom of the container.
