A retaining device comprising, a reservoir for retaining a liquid, a first elongated conduit, and a second elongated conduit. An upper end of the first and second conduits is connected in fluid communication to the reservoir. Upper ends of the first and second conduits are retained to the reservoir in order to prevent them from inadvertently pulling out from the reservoir.

Retaining device

A feeding system for connecting a humidifier to a reservoir comprising, a first elongated conduit for feeding water from the reservoir to the humidifier, a second elongated conduit alongside the first conduit for passing air from the humidifier to the reservoir, with an upper end of the first and second conduits being connected in fluid communication to the reservoir. The conduits are connected to the humidifier with a lower end of the first and second conduits located inside the humidifier, and with the lower end of the first conduit being located adjacent the lower end of the second conduit.

Feeding system

A syringe assembly includes a syringe receiving a plunger at one end and at the other end there is an extended part which can be heat deformed to hold a ported cap member and a rotatable valve member to the syringe. The ported cap member includes ports adapted to be connected to tubes for receiving, or conveying fluid material. The ported cap member has a central opening through which the extended part extends. The rotatable valve member is located between the syringe and the ported cap member for sealingly engaging both the syringe and the ported cap member by O-ring seals therebetween. The ported cap member is non-rotatably connected to the syringe by a splined connection.

Syringe apparatus and valve employed therein

A previously disclosed cartridge type humidifier apparatus including a separate heater module with a cylindrical opening for replaceably receiving therein disposable cylindrical humidifier cartridge modules, having a housing containing a replenishable water supply is employed as a water supply source for reproducing an aerosol with an oxygen supply for pediatric inhalation therapy. The cartridge modules each have a tubular metal main body adapted for a sliding fit within a complimentary tubular wall heater. The metal tubular body has a rigid plastic top and bottom end portions. The top end portions is a cap with a center axial gas inlet tube and a separate transverse gas delivery tube, the cap forming a closed air space over a pool of humidified liquid each cartridge includes an absorption column preferably of this cylindrical tube form which is adapted to lie closely adjacent and draw water up along the cartridge cylindrical metal body which insures as a evaporating surface when heated by the heater modules. The gas to be humidified is dispersed within a hollow chamber formed between the gas inlet pipe projecting concentrically into the cartridge and the radially spaced wall of the main cartridge body and the absorption column. Water is fed to the humidifier from the bottom of a bottle of sterile water through a water inlet tube. An air flow tube is connected to the plastic top end portion. Check valves are positioned in both the water inlet and air flow lines.

Pediatric cartridge humidifier

There is disclosed a method and apparatus for blow molding a thermoplastic container. The blow molded container is fabricated conventionally from a downwardly descending thermoplastic extruded parison tubing which passes between sets of separated mold halves. One of the sets of mold halves is adapted to accommodate an insert positioned on a retaining wand. When the molds close and the parison is conventionally blow molded the wand continues to support the insert while at the same time extends beyond the container so blow molded. The insert may be, for instance, a nozzle for a thermoplastic bottle having a cap molded thereabout having break away features whereby the cap may be removed. In another embodiment the wand is supported by a block located externally of the mold halves and in some cases axially with respect to the molds.

Disclosed herein is a container of blow molded plastic material which may contain a hermetically sealed biological. Attached to its outer side is an elastomeric diaphragm, adapted for cooperative use with a hypodermic needle as a self-sealing puncture site for injection or aspiration. The diaphragm may be protected by a storage cover which can readily be snapped off when the container is to be used. Also disclosed is a method and an apparatus for making the just described container with diaphragm and storage cover, in the preferred embodiment, as an assembled device, in a blow mold operation in which the container body is blown to fit against and lock to the diaphragm and storage cover.

Method of making blow molded thermoplastic container having sterile

Bottle

A method for blow molding a thermoplastic bottle of the type wherein the bottle is filled with a liquid usually water. The bottle is sealed while in the mold. Access to the contents therein is obtained through one or more breachable seals. In the present matter the bottle is supplied during the molding step with a manifold at the bottom of the bottle which acts as a diffuser in admitting air therethrough both during the molding step and during the use of the bottle for the purpose intended, i.e., humidification.

There is disclosed a method and apparatus for blow molding a thermoplastic container. The blow molded container is fabricated conventionally from a downwardly descending thermoplastic extruded parison tubing which passes between sets of separated mold halves. One of the sets of mold halves is adapted to accommodate an insert positioned on a retaining wand. In another embodiment the wand is supported by means located externally of said mold halves and in some cases axially with respect to the molds. When the molds close and the parison is conventionally blow molded the wand continues to support the insert while at the same time extends beyond the container so blow molded. The insert may be, for instance, a nozzle for a thermoplastic bottle having a cap molded thereabout having break away features whereby the cap may be removed.

Method of making a blow molded container having an insert molded in situ

A connecting device which will provide a sterile connection between a container for sterile solutions and tubing for delivery of the fluid. A piercing pin is provided having a pointed end with a pin sheath surrounding the pointed end and in contact with it. The sheath surrounds the hub member of the pin and upon contact with a pierceable diaphragm, the sheath breaks away from the pointed end of the pin allowing it to become exposed with the sheath then surrounding in a uniform manner the hub member of the pin. To facilitate the uniform movement of the sheath around the hub, a shoulder section is provided in the sheath for contact with an accommodating shoulder portion of the container closure having the diaphragm. In a preferred manner, two pierceable diaphragms are provided in the closure system on the container. The first provides the initial contact and the breaking of the sheath away from the piercing pin; the second provides sterile contact between the now exposed point of the piercing pin for sterile penetration into the container.

A blow-molded thermoplastic container for storing and dispensing sterile liquids that is designed to be filled with a sterile liquid during the blow-molding having a first penetrably sealed threaded neck, a second penetrably sealed neck in an aperture near the base of the container and a plug designed to fit into the second neck after it has been penetrated. The plug is contained in a sealed depression in the wall of the container when not in use. The container also has an indented waist portion positioned in the approximate center thereof.
