The invention relates to an inserter for an infusion set for intermittent or continuous administration of a therapeutical substance, such as e.g. insulin. The inserter comprises a needle hub comprising an insertion needle and two spring units assuring automatic insertion and automatic retraction of the insertion needle. The inserter comprises a housing (), a carrier body () carrying an infusion part (), a needle hub (), a first moving unit () bringing the carrier body () to a forward position and a second moving unit () bringing the carrier body () to a retracted position. The inserter is characterized in that it has means for activation which should be activated at least once in order to bring the carrier body () from a retracted to a forward position, and back from the forward to the retracted position.

The present application concerns a cannula device for mounting in a base part () comprising a housing (Ia,) and at least one membrane () together defining at least 15 one cavity, the cannula device further comprises a cannula () mounted in the housing and being in fluid communication with the at least one cavity, said cannula device is provided with means () for attaching the device to the base part () on the proximal side of the device.

Gateway system

The invention relates to a medication infusion set of the type having a flexible cannula adapted for subcutaneous placement, in combination with an insertion, or puncturing, device comprising an insertion needle extending through the cannula and beyond the outer tip thereof, the insertion device further comprising a shield adapted to cover the insertion needle when the latter is withdrawn from the cannula. More specifically, the invention provides a fully integrated shield member having a position in which it covers the cannula and the needle when the insertion device is connected to the housing, a position allowing the cannula to be inserted when the insertion device is connected to the housing, and a position in which the shield covers the needle and the outer tip thereof when the insertion device has been removed from the housing. By this arrangement the need for a separate cover to protect the needle prior to use can be dispensed with.

The invention relates to a medical puncturing device comprising a rigid needle being at one end adapted for facilitating the puncturing and comprising at the opposite end a hub, the hub comprising a handle part and a shield part being pivotable in relation to the handle part and further comprising locking means on the shield part and the handle part, the locking means being adapter to interlock the shield and the handle part in a pivoted position of the shield part where the rigid needle is covered by this.

A subcutaneous infusion set for administering a medication or a therapeutic fluid to a patient is disclosed. The infusion set includes a base element having a cavity and an entry lumen. A closing element is mounted on the base element to be rotatable about an axis through the base element and having an aperture, which in one position of the closing element in relation to the base element is aligned with the entry lumen of the base element and in a further rotated position of the closing element in relation to the base element, the closing element covers the entry lumen the base element. A cannula is mounted in and extends from the base element, the cannula having a lumen therethrough, the lumen communicating with the entry lumen through the cavity. Connector means for administering a fluid to the entry lumen are provided.

A subcutaneous injection set for administering a medication or a therapeutic fluid to a patient is disclosed. The injection set comprises a base element having a hub with a top and a bottom and an outer surface extending between said top and said bottom, a cavity within said hub and an entry lumen extending from said outer surface to said cavity. A top element is mounted on said base element to be rotatable about an axis through said hub and having a flange with an inner surface mating with said outer surface of said hub in the area around the entry lumen, said flange having an aperture extending between said inner surface and an outer surface, which aperture in one position of the top element in relation to the base element is aligned with said entry lumen of said hub and said flange in a further rotated position of the top element in relation to the base element covers said entry lumen in said hub. A cannula is mounted in and extending from said hub of said base element, said cannula having a lumen therethrough, said lumen communicating with the entry lumen of the central hub through said cavity. Connector means for administering a fluid to said opening in said flange of said top element are provided.
