Apparatus () for hearing assistance includes a spectacle frame (), including a front piece () and temples (), with one or more microphones () mounted at respective first locations on the front piece and configured to output electrical signals in response to first acoustic waves () that are incident on the microphones. A speaker () is mounted at a second location on one of the temples outputs second acoustic waves (). Processing circuitry () generates a drive signal for the speaker by processing the electrical signals output by the microphones so as to cause the speaker to reproduce selected sounds occurring in the first acoustic waves with a delay that is equal within 20% to a transit time of the first acoustic waves from the first location to the second location, thereby engendering constructive interference between the first and second acoustic waves.

Beamforming devices for hearing assistance

A system () includes a plurality of microphones (), configured to generate different respective signals in response to acoustic waves () arriving at the microphones, and a processor (). The processor is configured to receive the signals, to combine the signals into multiple channels, which correspond to different respective directions relative to the microphones by virtue of each channel representing any portion of the acoustic waves arriving from the corresponding direction with greater weight, relative to others of the directions, to calculate respective energy measures of the channels, to select one of the directions, in response to the energy measure for the channel corresponding to the selected direction passing one or more energy thresholds, and to output a combined signal representing the selected direction with greater weight, relative to others of the directions. Other embodiments are also described.

Speech-tracking listening device

Audio apparatus includes a neckband, which is sized and shaped to be worn around a neck of a human subject and includes left and right sides that rest respectively above the left and right clavicles of the human subject wearing the neckband. First and second arrays of microphones are disposed respectively on the left and right sides of the neckband and configured to produce respective electrical signals in response to acoustical inputs to the microphones. One or more earphones are worn in the ears of the human subject. Processing circuitry is coupled to receive and mix the electrical signals from the microphones in the first and second arrays in accordance with a specified directional response relative to the neckband so as to generate a combined audio signal for output via the one or more earphones.

Directional hearing aid

A device tag including a housing that includes a first connector structure constructed and arranged to engage with a battery operated device and a second connector structure constructed and arranged to slidingly engage with a battery such that the device tag is provided between the battery operated device and the battery. The device tag also includes an electrical connector carried by the housing and constructed and arranged to provide an electrical connection between the battery operated device and the battery. The device tag further includes an electronic device carried by the housing and constructed and arranged to transmit electrical signals.

An object management system that includes at least one object identification device to be secured to an associated object. The object identification devices provide radio frequency signals containing object identification codes. The system includes at least one user identification device providing a radio frequency signal containing a user identification code and a control unit having a reader for receiving and reading the signals provided by the user identification devices and the object identification devices. One aspect provides a remote unit that communicates directly with the control unit to receive information associated with a condition of the object management system at a location remote from the control unit. The remote unit is further configured to be carried by a user and configured to communicate information and/or an alert to the user, wherein the information and/or the alert is associated with the condition of the object management system.

Battery operated device and tag for a battery operated device

An electronic and manual lock assembly having a lock housing, a mechanical lock, an electric motor, and a shackle having a pair of legs. The shackle can be unlocked relative to the housing by having one leg pivotally connected with the housing and the other leg rotated out of the housing. The lock includes a first stop member that prevents one leg from being rotated out of the housing. The first stop member is moveable as a result of unlocking the mechanical lock. The lock includes a second stop member that prevents one of the legs from being rotated out of the lock housing and is moveable as a result of operating the electric motor. The first stop member and the second stop member are independently moveable by the mechanical lock and the electric motor.
