A system comprises a storage and a processor. The storage is for storing a plurality of Internet protocol multicast video streams, each associated with a live television program content. The processor is in communication with the storage, and the processor is configured to receive the Internet protocol multicast video streams. The processor is also configured to receive a request for a previously transmitted portion of one of the Internet protocol multicast video streams from customer premises equipment in response to the customer premises customer requiring the previously transmitted portion for display. The processor is also configured to begin transmission of the previously transmitted portion as an Internet protocol unicast video stream to the customer premises equipment for immediate display.

System and method for retrieving a previously transmitted portion of television program content

A set-top box device includes a network interface module and a client interface module. The network interface module is configured to receive interactive content instructions and an interactive content notification over an Internet protocol data connection, and to receive an associated on-demand content video stream from a television service provider. The network interface module is also configured to connect to a website containing product information for a product associated with the on-demand content video stream. The client interface module is configured to output the on-demand content video stream, to output the interactive content notification concurrently with the on-demand content video stream in response to outputting a portion of the on-demand content video stream and based on the interactive content instructions, and to output the website currently with the on-demand content video stream in response to a selection of the interactive content notification.

A method includes determining, at a network tracking system, a first usage value for a user account during a time interval by applying a first correction factor to a first data value determined from a first cell count of cell counter data retrieved from a network device of a network. The method also includes determining, at the network tracking system, a second usage value for the user account during the time interval based on session information from a plurality of network devices of the network. The method further includes generating a cumulative usage value based on the first usage value and the second usage value.

A method includes determining a first upload usage value and a first download usage value for a user account for a time interval from cell counter data retrieved from a first network device. The method includes determining a second download usage value for the user account for the time interval based on session information from a second network device. Methods and systems for providing interactive television are provided. A method may include sending television content received from a content source to a user device. The method may also include sending at least one interactive program trigger. The interactive program trigger may be adapted to cause the user device to initiate execution of processor executable instructions stored at the user device to provide at least one interactive display related to the television content at a display device.

Disclosed is a system and method of managing video content quality. The method includes receiving performance data at a video quality prediction system where the performance data is related to a plurality of network elements of a network path linking a video-head end with a set-top box device. The method also includes predicting, based at least partially on the performance data, a quality of video content received at the set-top box device and determining whether the predicted quality of video content is greater than or equal to a video quality threshold. In addition, the method includes identifying at least one of the plurality of network elements not satisfying a performance requirement, based on the performance data, when the predicted quality of video content is less than the video quality threshold. Further, the method includes outputting data indicating the at least one network element not satisfying the performance requirement.

In one form, a capacity management system for use with an optical network includes a network capacity management engine operable to actively access a network element. The system further includes a network-based application interface associated with the network capacity management engine. In another embodiment, the computer program at least in part correlates video provisioning information obtained from the data sources, individual subscriber channel viewing information, subscriber data and demographic data to provide informative views of data. The provisioning information may include information such as what programs or television (TV) commercials are shown on each channel during different time periods and the TV or video-on-demand program category information.

A system and method for network design are disclosed. In one embodiment of a method incorporating teachings of the present disclosure, embedded network information describing at least one existing network element and a plurality of physical locations available for locating new network nodes may be received. A demand forecast for a coverage area of a proposed network may also be received. In an embodiment in which a proposed network has a core layer, a number of core layer nodes to be included in the proposed network may also be received. In an embodiment in which a proposed network has an aggregation layer, a number of aggregator layer nodes to include in the proposed network may be calculated by adding a positive integer to a lower bound number of aggregator layer nodes. Consideration may be given to these and other inputs in connection with generating a network design.

The method also includes determining a plurality of network elements related to the customer, where the customer receives video content over a private video distribution network that includes the plurality of network elements related to the customer and at least one network device not related to the customer.
