A system and method for time-frequency coding for interference mitigation of sensors is presented that includes generating and transmitting, from a vehicle, a first chirp signal by a first sensor, in a first time-channel and in a first frequency-channel. The method may also include generating and transmitting, a second chirp signal by a second sensor, in a second time-channel and in the first frequency-channel and the receiving, by the first sensor, a first reflection signal from objects from the first chirp signal. In addition, there may be a receiving, by the second sensor, a second reflection signal from objects from the second chirp signal. In addition, the first time-channel is orthogonal to the second time-channel, and the transmitting of the second chirp signal is offset in time from the transmitting of the first chirp signal by an amount less than a duration of the first chirp signal.

Method and system of time-frequency sensor coding for interference mitigation in a vehicle

A motion monitor includes a lidar device, a controller, and a circuit. The lidar device is configured to perform scans of an environment proximate the ego vehicle to generate lidar point clouds related to one or more objects in the environment. The controller is configured to transform the lidar point clouds with location transform matrices to generate location point sets, aggregate the location point sets in a duration of interest to generate aggregated point sets, register the location point sets to the aggregated point sets to generate correction transform matrices, update the location transform matrices with the correction transform matrices to generate updated location transform matrices, and generate motion sets based on the updated location transform matrices. The circuit is configured to receive the motion sets.

A method includes performing object detection by a radar sensor system. The object detection includes generating and transmitting object-detection (OD) chirps on an OD channel of a plurality of radar channels employed by the radar sensor system. The method further includes monitoring unused radar channels for interference and determining that at least one of the unused radar channels is free of interference. The method still further includes performing object detection by generating and transmitting one or more OD chirps on the determined interference-free channel.

A system for interpolating wireless spectrum. The system may include an antenna system operable for transmitting wireless signals and responsively receiving reflected signals. The system may additionally include an interpolation controller configured for collecting a plurality of reflection radar spectrum samples from the reflected signals, identifying an interpolation point between two or more interpolation samples of the samples, calculating an interpolation weight for the each of the interpolation samples, and determining an interpolated spectrum at the interpolation point as a summation of a product of the interpolation weights and the interpolation samples.

A system for unsupervised radar calibration of a vehicle is contemplated. The system may include a radar having a plurality of antennas configured to transmit radar signals and responsively receive reflected signals. The system may further include a calibration controller configured to determine a plurality of detections from the reflected signals corresponding with unsupervised objects in the vicinity of the vehicle, and based on the detections, to generate a calibration matrix sufficient for calibrating the radar.

A spatial monitoring system employs a partial dimension iterative closest point analysis to provide improved accuracy for point cloud registration. The partial dimension iterative closest point analysis improves registration accuracy by performing optimization in accordance with an error magnitude of each dimension, wherein dimensions having large initial errors are significantly improved, and dimensions having high initial accuracy are further improved. The registration separately optimizes each dimension using surfaces with contributing information for the optimized dimension.

Method and system for determining a spatial transformation employing partial dimension iterative closest point

A method for using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to perform a maneuver in a land vehicle is provided. The method includes: receiving digitized radar return data from a radar transmission from a SAR onboard the vehicle; accumulating a plurality of frames of the digitized radar return data; applying a RADON transform to the accumulated plurality of frames of the digitized radar return data and odometry data from the vehicle to generate transformed frames of data for each three-dimensional point, wherein the RADON transform is configured to perform coherent integration for each three-dimensional point, project a radar trajectory onto each three-dimensional point, and project Doppler information onto each three-dimensional point; generating a two-dimensional map of an area covered by the radar transmission from the SAR based on the transformed frames of data for each three-dimensional point; and performing a maneuver with the land vehicle by applying the generated two-dimensional map.

Automotive synthetic aperture radar with radon transform

Systems and methods involve detecting objects using a radar system of a vehicle. Tracks of the objects are initiated in a track database. The tracks store data, respectively, for the objects and are updated based on additional detections of the objects. The tracks of the objects are initially unclassified tracks. Two tracks corresponding to two of the objects are selected as a candidate pair. Criteria are applied to the candidate pair to determine whether one track is of a ghost object and another track is of a true object corresponding with the ghost object. The ghost object represents detection of the true object in an incorrect location. The candidate pair is classified as tracks of a true object and ghost object pair based on determining that the one track is of the ghost object and the other track is of the true object corresponding with the ghost object.

Multipath ghost mitigation in vehicle radar system

Methods and systems for estimating vehicle velocity based on radar data. The methods and systems include receiving a set of range-Doppler-beam, RDB, maps from radars located on a vehicle and performing an optimization process that adjusts an estimate of vehicle velocity so as to optimize a correlation score. The optimization process includes iteratively: spatially registering the set of RDB maps based on the current estimate of vehicle velocity, determining the correlation score based on the spatially registered set of RDB maps, and outputting an optimized estimate of vehicle velocity from the optimization process when the correlation score has been optimized. The methods and systems control the vehicle based at least in part on the optimized estimate of vehicle velocity.

The method further includes performing, by the processing device, the joint radon transform association on the target object to generate association candidates. The method further includes controlling, by the processing device, the vehicle based at least in part on tracking the target object.

The controller may calculate a received beam response spectrum based on the received reflected radar signal, detect a first maximum value of the received beam response spectrum, identify an angle corresponding to the first maximum value as a first target angle, obtain a threshold envelope based on the first maximum value and the first target angle, detect a second maximum value in a portion of the received beam response spectrum being greater than the threshold envelope, identify an angle corresponding to the second maximum value as a second target angle, and output the first target angle as the angle of arrival of the reflected radar signal from the first target and the second target angle as the angle of arrival of the reflected radar signal from the second target.

Radar system and method for identifying multiple targets in a beam response spectrum

A method and system include transmitting transmit signals from a radar system. The transmit signals are linear frequency modulated continuous wave signals. The method includes receiving reflected signals at the radar system based on reflection of at least at subset of the transmit signals by one or more objects. A range from the radar system associated with each of the reflected signals corresponds with a frequency of the reflected signal. The reflected signals are processed to identify and locate the one or more objects. Processing includes applying an adaptive range-selective gain control (ARSGC) to control a gain corresponding with each of the reflected signals based on the range associated with the reflected signal.

A radar system for use in a vehicle may include a radar transmitter structured to transmit a radar signal having a waveform; and a controller operably connected to the radar transmitter and configured to control the waveform. The waveform may be characterized by a waveform parameter. The controller may be configured to set a value of the waveform parameter based on a present operational state of the vehicle, thereby generating an updated waveform. The radar transmitter may be structured to transmit an updated radar signal having the updated waveform.
