A device (e.g., an IoT device) includes a first radio, and a memory device accessible to the first radio. The memory device is configured to store a fingerprinting feature for a specific transmitter device. A second radio and a processor are also included. The process is coupled to the first and second radios. The first radio is configured to extract a fingerprinting feature of a first received wireless signal, determine that the extracted feature matches the fingerprinting feature stored in the storage device, and responsive to the determination that the extracted feature matches the feature stored in the storage device, cause the second radio to transition from a lower power state to a higher power state of operation and continue to receive the incoming signal.

Open loop wake-up radio based on transmitter fingerprinting

A wireless station (STA) in a wireless local area network (WLAN) performs a method to avoid media access control (MAC) padding of a physical layer convergence protocol data unit (PPDU) (e.g., a trigger-based (TB) PPDU, etc.). The method can reduce current or power consumption by the STA, which can in turn optimize the STA and, in certain instances, the WLAN as whole. In one example, the method includes the STA receiving a trigger frame from an access point (AP). The trigger frame specifies a length of a PPDU. The method further includes the STA generating a TB PPDU based on the specifications in the trigger frame. In particular, the STA generates a PPDU that has a length that is less than the length specified by the trigger frame. The method also includes the STA transmitting the generated PPDU to the AP.

Techniques for determining an angle-of-arrival of a wireless transmission are provided, including receiving, with a first antenna, at least a first portion of a wireless transmission, determining when a second portion of the wireless transmission will be received, switching to the second antenna to receive the second portion of the wireless transmission, determining an angle of arrival of the wireless transmission based on the first portion and the second portion of the wireless transmission, and outputting the angle of arrival of the wireless transmission.

Angle of arrival estimation using a single receive chain

A circuit includes a processor to store a beacon timestamp generated from a wireless network. An output port controlled by the processor causes an interrupt that initiates a capture of a link layer timestamp relative to the beacon timestamp. An input port on the processor receives the link layer time stamp. A synchronizer captures a processor timestamp relative to the beacon timestamp and determines a time offset value relative to the received link layer time stamp by computing a difference between the processor timestamp and the link layer timestamp. The time offset value is combined with the processor timestamp to synchronize the processor with respect to the beacon timestamp.
