A method of assessing contractility of a cardiac muscle which has at least one activation parameter, the method comprising: (a) utilizing time correlated data pertaining to at least one activation parameter to produce a profile of said parameter; (b) identifying from measurement of said at least one parameter a time interval during which interference from an artificial signal occurs; (c) ameliorating effects of said interference; and (d) analyzing changes in said profile to generate an indication of contractility, as a function of time to generate a cardiac activation profile.

Assessing cardiac activity

A method is provided, including physically contacting a gastric implantation site of a stomach via a transluminal approach, physically contacting the site via a transabdominal approach, stabilizing the site, and implanting an electrode at the site based on the physical contact provided by the transluminal and transabdominal approach. Other embodiments are also described.

GI lead implantation

A method is provided for treating a subject. The method includes administering to the subject an ingestible capsule containing one or more flexible support elements adapted to expand while in a stomach of the subject, thereby bringing a plurality of electrodes into contact with a wall of the stomach. The method also includes driving the electrodes to apply an electrical signal to the stomach wall at first and second times, the second time at last 24 hours after the first time. Other embodiments are also described.

Ingestible capsule for appetite regulation

Apparatus is provided, including a control unit (), adapted to be implanted within a patient (), and a corkscrew-shaped electrode mount (), adapted to be implanted in a wall of a stomach of the patient. The corkscrew-shaped electrode mount includes first () and second () electrodes, at respective sites of the electrode mount, and a controller (), wirelessly coupled to the control unit. Other embodiments are also described.

Wireless leads for gastrointestinal tract applications

A method for treating a subject is provided, including receiving a sensor signal responsive to the subject eating, analyzing the sensor signal, and driving a current into tissue of the subject responsive to analyzing the signal. The current is typically driven into muscle tissue of the subject's stomach (). Preferably, receiving the sensor signal includes sensing electrical potential change generated responsive to contraction of a muscle such as a stomach muscle of the subject. In a preferred embodiment, the sensor signal is analyzed with respect to the timing of ingestion, and a level of compliance of the subject with a desired ingestion schedule is determined. As appropriate, a parameter of the current driven into the tissue may be configured such that the application of the current to the tissue induces in the subject a sensation of satiation, discomfort, nausea, or vertigo.
