A method for making downhole gyroscopic surveying measurements includes making at least one cross-axial gyroscope measurement in the subterranean wellbore; making accelerometer measurements including cross-axial accelerometer measurements in the subterranean wellbore; evaluating the cross-axial accelerometer measurements to determine at least one tool motion induced cross-axial rotational component; and removing the tool motion induced cross-axial rotational component from the at least one cross-axial gyroscope measurement to determine a compensated cross-axial gyroscope measurement.

A system and method for providing information regarding the tortuosity of a wellbore path is provided. The method includes receiving data from a plurality of survey stations of a wellbore survey. The method further includes defining a plurality of reference lines for the wellbore path. The method further includes determining a plurality of displacements of the wellbore path from the plurality of reference lines.

System and method for analyzing wellbore survey data to determine tortuosity of the wellbore using displacements of the wellbore path from reference lines

A system and method for providing information regarding the tortuosity of a wellbore path is provided. The method includes receiving data from a plurality of survey stations of a wellbore survey. The method further includes determining a plurality of tortuosity parameter values for the wellbore path within a corresponding plurality of analysis windows, wherein each analysis window has at least one tortuosity parameter value.
