There is provided an inhaler article () having an upstream end () and a downstream end (). The inhaler article comprises an upstream section () which comprises an end plug (). The inhaler article comprises a downstream section () located downstream of the upstream section and spaced apart from the upstream section. The downstream section comprises a filter segment (). The resistance to draw per unit length of the filter segment is greater than 0 millimetres of water per millimetre and less than about 3 millimetres of water per millimetre. The inhaler article comprises a cavity () defined between the upstream and downstream sections, and configured to be in fluid communication with the exterior of the article. The inhaler article comprises a capsule () containing an inhalable material, and located in the cavity. There is also provided an inhaler system () comprising such an inhaler article and a holder ().

Inhaler article

A container () for consumer goods, the container comprises an outer sleeve () and inner box () disposed within the outer sleeve (), and configured to slide within the outer sleeve () between: a first position, in which the interior of the inner box () cannot be accessed by a user; and a second position, in which the interior of the inner box () can be accessed by a user. The container () having a locking mechanism for preventing the inner box () from sliding from the first position to the second position, when the inner box () is in the first position in the outer sleeve ().

An aerosol-generating article including a rod of aerosol-generating substrate is provided, the rod including: an aerosol-generating film comprising at least 25 percent by weight of a polyhydric alcohol and at least 10 percent by weight of a cellulose based film-forming agent, the aerosol-generating film being configured such that an exposed surface area of the aerosol-generating film within the aerosol-generating substrate is at least 5 square millimeters per mg of the aerosol-generating film, and the aerosol-generating film being substantially tobacco-free. A method of assembling an inhaler article holder having an oriented piercing element, includes inserting an inner housing into a jig. The inner housing extends along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end to a distal end an inner housing length. The distal end includes a piercing element aperture. The inner housing length mates with a jig opening. The jig includes a jig angled planar surface coaxial with the piercing element aperture. The method includes mating a piercing element cutting plane with the jig angled planar surface. The piercing element extends from a proximal cutting end to the piercing element distal end defining a cutting plane. The piercing element distal end is received in the inner housing piercing element aperture, and then fixing the piercing element distal end to the inner housing. The piercing element cutting plane is orientated relative to the inner housing longitudinal axis.

A holder for an inhaler article that includes a sleeve positioned within a housing cavity, a piercing element, and a lockout mechanism. The sleeve comprises a sleeve cavity arranged to receive the inhaler article. The sleeve is movable within the housing cavity between a first and second position. The piercing element is arranged to pierce the inhaler article received within the sleeve when the sleeve is moved from the first position to the second position. The lockout mechanism comprises a guide, a follower member coupled to the sleeve, and a retaining section. The follower member is arranged to move along the guide into the retaining section as the sleeve moves from the second position and back to the first position. The retaining section is arranged to hold the follower member when the sleeve has returned back to the first position, thus retaining the sleeve in the first position.

The cartridge further includes a composition including nicotine in the housing in proximity to the closed end. The cartridge also includes a flow control apparatus in the housing. The flow control apparatus includes a proximal end, a distal end, and an internal airflow passageway between the distal end and the proximal end. A seal is formed between an exterior of the flow control apparatus and an interior of the housing. The seal is between the open end of the housing and the aperture of the housing. A channel is at least partially defined by the interior of the housing. The channel is in communication with the aperture and directs air from the aperture towards the composition including nicotine.
