In a conventional radiation capturing device, such as an X-ray device or a CT scanner, a structured surface part, e.g. a scintillator array, is used that is manufactured by mechanical processing, e.g. by dicing and grinding. In order to modifying the scintillating properties of a scintillating material, further manufacturing steps, such as high temperature cycling like sintering etc., are performed in order to restore or at least improve the scintillating properties. This application proposes to form a structured surface part with a particle-in-binder structure containing scintillator or other radiation-relevant particles, using additive manufacturing with a photosensitive mixture to form a layer-wise structure. Therefore, subsequent manufacturing steps, such as sintering, can be omitted. The structured surface part is bendable.

Dual layer detector (XD) for X-ray imaging, comprising at least two light sensitive surfaces (LSS,LSS). The dual layer detector further comprises a first scintillator layer (SL, SL) including at least one scintillator element (SE) capable of converting X-radiation into light, the element having two faces, an ingress face (S) for admitting X-radiation into the element (SE) and an egress face (S) distal from the ingress face (S), wherein the two faces (S,S) are arranged shifted relative to each other, so that a longitudinal axis (LAX) of the scintillator element (SE) is inclined relative to a normal (n) of the layer. The scintillator element (SE) has a sidewall (w,w) extending between the two faces (S,S), the scintillator layer (SL) further comprising a second such scintillator element (SE') having a sidewall (w&#x2032;,w&#x2032;), the second scintillator element (SE&#x2032;) neighboring the first scintillator element (SE), wherein the sidewall (w,w) of the first scintillator element (SE) and the sidewall (w&#x2032;,w&#x2032;) of the second scintillator element (SE) are neighbored and are inclined relative to each other. The dual layer detector (XD) further comprises a second such scintillator layer (SL). One of the light sensitive surfaces (LSS,LSS) is arranged in between the two scintillator layers (SL, SL).

X-ray detector with focused scintillator structure for uniform imaging

The present invention relates to a radiation detector () comprising: i) a substrate (); ii) a sensor, which is coupled to the substrate, the sensor comprising a first array () of sensor pixels, a second array () of signal read-out elements, and an electronic circuitry which is configured to provide image data based on signals received from the signal read-out elements; iii) a transducer, which is coupled to the substrate and to the sensor, the transducer comprising a third array () of subpixels, wherein at least two subpixels are assigned to one sensor pixel; wherein the second array of signal read-out elements and the third array of subpixels correspond to each other; wherein each of the subpixels comprises a radiation conversion material.

Multi-piece mono-layer radiation detector

An X-ray detector is positioned relative to an X-ray source such that at least a part of a region between the X-ray source and the X-ray detector is an examination region for accommodating an object. The X-ray source and X-ray detector are controlled by a processing unit in order to operate in a first imaging operation mode, a second imaging operation mode, and/or a third imaging operation mode. The detector comprises a first scintillator, a second scintillator, a first sensor array, and a second sensor array. The first scintillator is disposed over the second scintillator such that X-rays emitted from the X-ray source first encounter the first scintillator and then encounter the second scintillator.

Detector for X-ray imaging

A radiation detector with first and second scintillator structures is disclosed. The first scintillator structure comprises a plurality of first scintillator pixels. The first scintillator pixels are separated by gaps, which may be filled with a reflective material to achieve an optical separation of the first scintillator pixels. The second scintillator structure is adapted to increase the absorption of radiation and the output of light. Thereto, the second scintillator structure overlaps at least partially the gaps between first scintillator pixels. The second scintillator structure is optically coupled to the first scintillator structure, so that light emitted by the second scintillator structure is fed into first scintillator pixels. Radiation detector and method for producing a radiation detector

A method for fabricating a pixelated scintillator including providing a pixelated scintillator-structure and a connection-structure in such a way that the connection-structure is in mechanical contact with two adjacent pixels of the pixelated scintillator-structure. Moreover, the pixelated scintillator-structure includes a first sintering-shrinking-coefficient and the connection-structure includes a second sintering-shrinking-coefficient that is greater than the first sintering-shrinking-coefficient. Further, the pixelated scintillator-structure and the connection-structure are sintered such that a gap between two adjacent pixels of the pixelated scintillator-structure is reduced.
