Optically controllable windows and an associated window control system provide a building security platform. A window controller or other processing device can monitor for window breakage, cameras associated with windows can monitor for intruders, and transparent displays can provide alerts regarding detected activity within a building. A window control system can detect deviations from expected I/V characteristics of an optically controllable window during normal operation of the window (tint transitions, steady state conditions, etc.) and/or during application of a security-related perturbing event, and provide alerts upon their occurrence.

Security event detection with smart windows

Optically controllable windows and an associated window control system provide a building security platform. A window controller or other processing device can monitor for window breakage, cameras associated with windows can monitor for intruders, and transparent displays can provide alerts regarding detected activity within a building. A window control system can detect deviations from expected UV characteristics of an optically controllable window during normal operation of the window (tint transitions, steady state conditions, etc.) and/or during application of a security-related perturbing event, and provide alerts upon their occurrence.

A method and system includes a plurality of video players and a plurality of remote control devices for implementing follow-me functionalities. Each remote control device has a unique ID and can control all the video players. The method and system receives a first control signal from a first remote control device to interrupt playback of a program by a first video player, interrupts playback of the program at the first video player, and stores the ID of the first remote control device and the status of the playback of the program. The method and system then receives a second control signal from a second remote control device to resume playback of the program at a second video player, checks the stored ID and the ID of the second remote control device, and if the two IDs are identical, resumes playback of the program at the second video player according to the status.

Method and system for providing universal follow-me functionality

Multiple media devices (-) at different locations can advantageously synchronize shared content by including chronology information with each piece of content. Each media device maps received content pieces () from other devices, along with content pieces () on the device itself to a common time line (). The mapped content, when displayed, will depict the earliest content earliest on the time line and the latest content piece appears latest on the time line.
