Aspects of this disclosure relate to a coupler circuit configured to receive an output of a radio frequency coupler. The coupler circuit can be arranged in a daisy chain with other coupler circuits. The coupler circuit can include a switch configured to turn on based on a signal level of a direct current component of a coupler signal from another coupler circuit and pass a radio frequency component of the coupler signal when on. The coupler circuit can pass the coupler signal while a module that includes the coupler circuit is otherwise inactive.

Coupler circuit

A power amplifier that can support multiple communication networks while maintaining power efficiency across each of the supported communication networks is disclosed. In some implementations described herein, a power amplifier module includes a bypass circuit that enables different voltage supplies to be provided to the power amplifier. By regulating the voltage supply provided to the power amplifier, the power amplifier can support different communication networks while maintaining power efficiency across a dynamic frequency range. Moreover, embodiments herein may include a buck converter, or other form of DC-DC converter, that enables the power amplifier to operate with respect to multiple communication networks. Advantageously, in certain embodiments, because wireless devices that include multiple power amplifiers often require a DC-DC converter to support at least some of the communication networks, the inclusion of the buck converter in the embodiments described herein does not add additional cost or size to the wireless device.

Multi-mode power amplifier module

Current-mode control for radio-frequency (RF) power amplifiers. In some embodiments, an RF power amplifier control circuit can include a sensor configured to measure a base current of a power amplifier and generate a sensed current. The control circuit can further include a sensing node configured to receive a reference current and perform a current-mode operation with the sensed current to yield an error current. The control circuit can further include a control loop configured to generate a control signal based on the error current to adjust an operating parameter of the power amplifier.

Current-mode control for radio-frequency power amplifiers

Disclosed are systems, circuits and methods related to controlling of a radio-frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA). In some embodiments, a PA control circuit can include a first circuit configured to generate a replica base current from a base current provided to the PA, with the replica base current being representative of a collector current of the PA scaled by a beta parameter. The PA control circuit can further include a second circuit configured to generate a beta-tracking reference current from a temperature-compensated voltage and a base resistance associated with the PA. The PA control circuit can further include a current steering circuit configured to receive the replica base current and the beta-tracking reference current and generate a proportional current to a clamping node of a base driver. In some embodiments, the replica base current can be obtained by a current-mode comparison of a finger-sensed current with a ramp current.
