A vehicle simulation system includes a compiler module, a parser module, a wrapper module, a modeling module, and a simulation module. The compiler module generates object code that is compatible with a first type of operating system based on source code that is executable by a vehicle control module and that is compatible with a second type of operating system. The parser module generates a definitions file and an extensible markup language (XML) file based on the source code and the object code. The wrapper module generates a library file based on the object code and the definitions file. The modeling module generates model-based source code for a virtual model based on the XML file and a user configuration of the virtual model. The simulation module simulates operation of a plant of a vehicle with the virtual model.

Vehicle system modeling systems and methods

A method of estimating composition of fuel in the fuel tank of a vehicle. A refuel event is detected. Fuel consumption is monitored during a plurality of stages after the refuel event. A plurality of fuel trim shift values are determined relative to the stages. The fuel trim shift values are used to estimate a fuel composition change. This method eliminates a need for a hardware fuel composition sensor and also provides dynamic filtering of fuel trim values.

Apparatus and methods for estimating vehicle fuel composition

A cruise control system for a vehicle includes a throttle and a controller. The controller determines an open-loop speed compensation factor and calculates a closed-loop speed compensation factor. The controller determines a throttle area based on the open-loop speed compensation factor and the closed-loop speed compensation factor and operates the throttle based on the throttle area.

A torque control system for a vehicle including an internal combustion engine, an electronic throttle coupled to the internal combustion engine, a powertrain controller controlling the electronic throttle, a first control loop operating in the powertrain controller including a feed forward function to control engine torque, a second control loop operating in the powertrain controller including a proportional function acting upon the torque variance in the internal combustion engine, a third control loop operating in the powertrain controller including an integral function acting upon the rpm variance in the internal combustion engine, and where the outputs of the first, second and third control loop are used to factor a desired mass airflow for the engine and the desired mass air flow is used to generate a position command for the electronic throttle.

Model following torque control

An engine toque estimator according to the invention includes a vehicle data bus that provides a plurality of engine operating inputs including at least one of engine RPM, spark and a dilution estimate. A steady state torque estimator communicates with the vehicle data bus and generates a steady state engine torque signal. A measurement model communicates with the vehicle data bus and compensates for errors associated with engine-to-engine variation. A dynamic torque estimator communicates with at least one of the vehicle data bus, the measurement model, and the steady state torque estimator and generates an actual torque signal.
