One or more embodiments of the invention relates to a method of managing data in a cluster. The method includes receiving, by a global event manager of the cluster, a notification that an event has occurred on the cluster, wherein the cluster comprises a plurality of file system redirector proxy (FSRP) nodes. In response to the notification, the global event manager performs a load balancing analysis on the cluster to assign an export location of a file system export to a FSRP node of the plurality of FSRP nodes, and notifying each of the plurality of FSRP nodes in the cluster of the event, wherein the notifying results in an update of a global export table of each of the plurality of FSRP nodes of the assigning of the export location to the FSRP node.

Scaling and distributing namespaces and clients across multiple file system redirector proxies

Systems and methods are disclosed that determine, by a client, a workload intent of a workload that is forthcoming from an application executing on the client. The workload intent corresponds to one or more characteristics of the workload over a connection between the client and a server. The systems and methods send, by the client to the server, a workload intent identifier corresponding to the workload intent. The server is configured to optimize server resources based on the workload intent identifier. The systems and methods send, by the client, one or more workload operations to the server over the connection that are consistent with the workload intent.

Method and system for processing unstable writes in a clustered file system

Embodiments for transferring data directly from primary storage to secondary storage in a virtualized network including virtual machine (VM) based storage, by exposing a source volume in the primary storage to a hypervisor host of the virtualized network, preparing a destination volume of the secondary storage as an empty volume and exporting it to the hypervisor host so that the host can the destination volume along with the source volume, and moving, in the hypervisor host, data from the exposed source volume to the exported empty destination volume using a combination of Storage Direct, Storage VMotion, and XCOPY or enhanced XCOPY technologies, wherein the XCOPY technology provides a direct transfer of data from the primary storage to the secondary storage.
