Non-idealities of input circuitry of a receiver signal chain can significantly degrade the overall performance of the receiver signal chain. A digital nonlinearity correction (NLC) can be implemented in a receiver signal chain having an ADC. Digital NLC can be designed as a drop in signal preconditioner for existing RF ADC wideband receiver signal chains. A unique equalizer can compensate for a variety of mixer spurs. Accordingly, digital NLC can correct nonlinearities due to mixers and any amplifiers preceding or following the ADC, potentially improving receive chains performance by 15-25 dB. Such a digital NLC solution can be particularly beneficial in defense and instrumentation applications which demand the greatest performance.

Digital correction techniques for wideband receiver signal chain nonlinearities

The battery monitoring techniques described herein may be used for detection of battery anomalies or faults. Also, the battery monitoring techniques described herein may be used to generate estimates of total battery capacity. The battery monitoring techniques may employ an alternating current frequency response (ACFR) of the battery. The ACFR response of the battery may be used to detect anomalies and/or estimate a total capacity of the battery.

A distortion mitigation quantizer circuit includes a pre-quantizer to generate a first quantized signal having L output signal levels from an input signal and a digital pulse-width-modulation (PWM) circuit to modulate the first quantized signal using M modulating carriers with PWM carrier frequency fand according to an over sampling ratio (OSR) N in order to generate a second quantized signal. In this case, a number of the modulating carriers M is substantially equal to twice L/N.

Digital compensators for use in outphasing-based power amplification systems (e.g., Linear Amplification using Nonlinear Components (LINC) amplifiers and Asymmetric Multilevel Outphasing (AMO) amplifiers) include a short memory nonlinear portion and a long memory linear time invariant (LTI) portion. In various embodiments, compensators are provided that are of relatively low complexity and that are capable of operation at throughputs exceeding a Gigasample per second.
