A system includes a wellhead assembly installed above a well, the wellhead assembly including a passageway extending therethrough in fluid communication with the well, a sensor operable to detect a characteristic of a fluid flow in the passageway indicative of a need for a well killing operation, a kill fluid line extending between a source of kill fluid and the passageway, a hydraulic control remote (HCR) valve installed in the kill fluid line, the HCR valve including a gate movable between closed and open positions with respect to the kill fluid line and an actuator to open and close the gate, and a controller communicatively coupled to the flow sensor and the HCR valve operable to instruct the actuator of the HCR valve to open in response to determining the characteristic of the fluid flow in the passageway is indicative of a need for a well kill operation.

Automatic well killing system

A method includes: releasing the multi-drift tool assembly into a wellbore that includes at least a first section and a second section, wherein the first section borders the second section from above the second section, wherein the first section is sized larger than the second section, and wherein the multi-drift tool assembly comprises at least one secondary drift tool housed inside a primary drift tool; advancing the multi-drift tool assembly down the wellbore and inside the first section; in response to determining that the multi-drift tool assembly has stopped, releasing the secondary drift tool from inside the primary drift tool; and advancing the secondary drift tool down the wellbore and inside the second section.

Smart multi drift tool

A downhole perforation tool includes an upper sub-assembly configured to couple to a downhole conveyance within a wellbore that is formed from a terranean surface toward a subterranean formation; and a plurality of perforation sub-assemblies. Each perforation sub-assembly includes one or more perforation guns, and one or more ports configured to fluidly couple the wellbore with a bore that extends from the one or more ports to the upper sub-assembly. The downhole perforation tool further includes a main wellbore seal positioned between the upper sub-assembly and the plurality of perforation sub-assemblies and actuatable to anchor the downhole perforation tool to a casing in the wellbore. The downhole perforation tool further includes at least one secondary wellbore seal positioned between adjacent perforation sub-assemblies of the plurality of perforation sub-assemblies. The at least one secondary wellbore seal is actuatable to fluidly isolate a portion of an annulus of the wellbore from another portion of the annulus of the wellbore.

Downhole perforating tool systems and methods

An ultrasonic flow check system for wellbores includes an ultrasonic transceiver installed within an inner surface of a bell nipple attached to a well head of a wellbore at a surface. The bell nipple receives wellbore fluid from a flow line attached to a side surface of the bell nipple. An alarm is installed on a rotary table installed above the bell nipple such that the bell nipple is between the rotary table and the well head. A ultrasonic signal is caused to be transmitted, by the ultrasonic transceiver, into the bell nipple. The ultrasonic signal is reflected by the wellbore fluid within the bell nipple resulting in an ultrasonic response signal. The ultrasonic response signal is caused to be received by the ultrasonic transceiver. Based on the ultrasonic response signal, it is determined whether the fluid level within the bell nipple is static or mobile.

Ultrasonic flow check systems for wellbores

The method includes providing a wellhead comprising a first casing spool and an extended tubing spool disposed above the first casing spool, and a production tree comprising a wing valve disposed above the extended tubing spool. The method further includes decoupling the extended tubing spool from the wellhead, coupling a replacement tubing spool and an additional casing spool below the replacement tubing spool to the wellhead replacing the extended tubing spool. A combined length of the replacement tubing spool and the additional casing spool is the same as the length of the extended tubing spool. The method further includes maintaining a consistent vertical length between the first casing spool and the wing valve while replacing the extended tubing spool with the replacement tubing spool and the additional casing spool.

Methods for wellhead workover

A device for cleaning a tubular of a wellbore includes a cylindrical body. The cylindrical body has a fishing neck, an upper chamber, a lower chamber, a first spring, a second spring, and a rod. The fishing neck facilitates raising and lowering the device within the tubular. The upper chamber receives a latching dog that abuts against the tubular when the device is raised and lowered within the tubular. The lower chamber receives a brush with bristles that scour a surface of the tubular as the device is lowered. The first spring exerts a force between the latching dog and the cylindrical body, while the second spring exerts a force between the brush and the cylindrical body. Finally, the rod interconnects the latching dog and the brush such that the rod forces the brush to withdraw into the cylindrical body when the latching dog actuates away from the cylindrical body.

Adjustable brush plug device

A welding tool consisting of a tubular body having a lateral end and a pin end. The pin end has external threads disposed around an external circumferential surface of the pin end. The lateral end comprises an inner wall defining an orifice. Additionally, a heat proof shell is disposed circumferentially around the lateral end. The welding tool further includes a battery housing. The battery housing encloses a plurality of batteries which store energy. The welding tool further includes a welding element disposed on an inner surface of the orifice and an electric line. The electric line is coiled within the tubular body and physically contacts the welding element and is electrically connected to the plurality of batteries. The welding tool further includes a controller. The controller is capable of receiving and parsing mud pulse signals and controlling the release of stored energy from the batteries to the electric line.

Fishing welding tool

A first interval inflow control device and a second interval inflow control device are positioned on a production tubing string proximate to a first subterranean interval and a second subterranean interval, respectively. The inflow control devices each include a central bore, a sand screen surrounding an inner tube, a plurality of ports connect the annular space between an inner surface of the sand screen and an outer surface of the inner tube, and a sliding sleeve configured to translate between an open position and closed position. A first shifting tool is configured to engage with and axially translate the sliding sleeve of the first interval inflow control device and a second shifting tool is configured to engage with and axially translate the sliding sleeve of the second interval inflow control device. The second shifting tool has an outer diameter less than the bore of the first interval inflow control device.

Selective inflow control device, system, and method

A wellbore assembly includes a wellbore string and a cement retainer. The wellbore string is disposed within a cased wellbore. The cement retainer is releasably coupled to the wellbore string and defines, with a wall of the casing, an annulus. The cement retainer includes a housing, a valve, and a packer. The flapper valve is attached to and disposed within the bore of the housing. The flapper valve moves between a closed position, in which a fluid pathway of the cement retainer is closed, and an opened position, in which the fluid pathway is opened for fluid to flow downhole out of the cement retainer. The wellbore string opens, with the packer set on the wellbore, the flapper valve by stinging the flapper valve and allowing cement to flow downhole from the wellbore string to the target zone to remediate the wellbore at the target zone.

A downhole tool includes a top sub-assembly configured to connect to a downhole conveyance that is operable to run the tool into a wellbore formed from a terranean surface to a subterranean formation; a housing coupled at an uphole end to the top sub-assembly, the housing defining an interior volume; a vacuum positioned in the interior volume and configured to generate a fluid suction; a debris chamber fluidly coupled to the vacuum and positioned in the interior volume; a nozzle coupled at a downhole end of the housing, the nozzle including one or more openings; and a controller communicably coupled to the vacuum and configured to perform operations including activating the vacuum to generate the fluid suction to circulate wellbore debris through the vacuum and into the debris chamber.

A wellhead adaptor tool, a system, and a method for installing a shooting nipple on a rotating control device of a wellhead. The wellhead adaptor tool has a body, a first flange, and a second flange. The body has a void. The first flange is coupled to a first portion of the body. The first flange has multiple voids to couple the body to a shooting nipple by multiple fasteners. The second flange is coupled to a second portion of the body. The second flange couples the body to a rotating control device of a wellhead coupled to a wellbore. A clamp is coupled to the second flange to couple the second flange to the rotating control device.

A method for removing filter cake from a subterranean wellbore includes running a completion string into the wellbore on production tubing, the completion string including one or more screen assemblies coupled therein, conveying a running tool through the production tubing to a shifting tool arranged within the completion string, opening a circulation port of the shifting tool with the running tool, flowing a spotting fluid through the running tool and the shifting tool and discharging the spotting fluid from the completion string into an annulus defined between the completion string and the wellbore, interacting the spotting fluid with the filter cake to remove the filter cake from a wall of the wellbore, and circulating the spotting fluid from the annulus and into the production tubing through the circulation port.

A system and method for flaring with a flare including a flare stack and a flare tip at a well site having a wellhead and a wellbore for production of crude oil or natural gas, or both, providing produced fluid including hydrocarbon from the wellhead to the flare stack, discharging the produced fluid from the flare tip through a nozzle discharge opening, combusting the hydrocarbon of the produced fluid as discharged from the flare tip, and a control system adjusting flow area of the nozzle discharge opening.

A wellbore assembly includes a cable and a wellbore tool. The wellbore tool is coupled to the downhole end of the cable. The wellbore tool includes a housing, one or more sensors, a packer, and a controller. The one or more sensors are coupled to the housing or to the cable or both. The sensors detect one or more parameters of the wellbore tool or the cable or both. The controller is coupled to the housing. The controller is electrically coupled to one or more sensors and is operationally coupled to the packer. The controller determines, with the wellbore tool parted from the cable and based on information received from the one or more sensors, an indication of the wellbore tool in free fall. The controller activates, based on the determination, the packer to expand the packer and set the wellbore tool on a wall of the wellbore.
