Our problem relates to a master cylinder with a U-shaped seal. Our goal is to avoid defective bleeding of hydraulic braking systems. The defects arise out of the fact that the vacuum causes the lips of the seal () to stick together and to stick against the wall (). To achieve this, reliefs () will be created on one wall () of one lip () facing the other lip () and on the edge face () of this same lip. These reliefs will prevent the lips from sticking tightly to one another and to the wall facing the edge face of the lips. This lack of sticking will prevent a vacuum from being created between the two lips and between the edge face of the lips and the wall (). As a result, the seal will be able to return to a position in which bleeding can be performed effectively.

When an element of the electro-hydraulic brake circuit () is malfunctioning, a master cylinder () can brake the vehicle. A brake actuation simulator () is then disconnected from the master cylinder () by means of an O-ring gasket () after the gasket has been compressed between a groove () in a secondary piston () and a bore () in the master cylinder. In order to prevent the gasket from being extruded from the groove during brake release (or brake pedal release) resulting from sudden braking, the invention makes provision for a pressure relief duct () to be provided inside the secondary piston. Extra pressure can then be discharged during brake release (or brake pedal release) through the brake release duct () from the inside of the chamber () of the simulator towards the primary chamber () of the master cylinder.

Electro-hydraulic brake circuit for a vehicle

A master cylinder having a body with a bore therein delimited by a piston into a work chamber and a supply chamber. The work chamber () is connected to wheel brakes, while the supply chamber is connected to a fluid supply, through a supply duct. The piston has a shank retained by a guide ring mounted in the bore and a head bears against a thrust ring in a rest position. A first end of the supply duct is connected to the fluid supply, while a end is connected to the supply chamber. A hydraulic damping arrangement that dampens movement of the piston toward the thrust ring and includes structure for shutting off the second end of the supply duct such that brake fluid flows at a reduced flow rate from the supply chamber to the supply duct through at least one exhaust duct.
