A host electronic device that supports both Universal Serial Bus (USB) and Controller Area Network (CAN) connections is provided. The host electronic device drives at least one USB signal line and measures the voltage thereof. When the measured voltage indicates a USB connection from a peripheral device, the host electronic device determines that the peripheral device is a USB device. Otherwise, the host electronic device determines that the peripheral device is a CAN device.

Methods and devices for detecting a controller area network connection on a universal serial bus port

A host electronic device that supports both Universal Serial Bus (USB) and Controller Area Network (CAN) connections is provided. When the host electronic device detects connection from a peripheral electronic device that uses the CAN protocol, the host electronic device switches to USB-C alternate mode and routes CAN signals over sideband use signals.

Methods and devices for routing controller area network traffic over a universal serial bus connection

The disclosure describes a system and method for controlling interfacing parameters for a device when connected to a host. In the system and method, the communications interface is configurable to be in operable connection to a host using a microprocessor in the device having a first bus controller and a second bus controller, the second bus controller external to the microprocessor. The method comprises: establishing an initial connection by the device; conducting negotiations by the device to set a first data transmission rate for the device for the initial connection utilizing a communication bus controller contained in the microprocessor; and after detecting completion of enumeration of the device, re-establishing the connection by the device using the second bus controller in the device that processes the communications at a second transmission rate that is higher than the first data transmission rate.

System and method for interfacing an electronic device with a host system

A system and method for handling electronic notes in a mobile environment, wherein the system includes a memory configured to store an electronic note, which electronic note includes location information, a location detector configured to detect location information for the mobile device, and a processor configured to: monitor the location information for the mobile device based on data from the location detector; compare the location information for the mobile device with the location information in the electronic note; and activate the electronic note when the location information for the mobile device is within a predetermined distance of the location information in the electronic note.

The invention relates to a system and method for controlling interfacing parameters for a device when connected to a host is provided. The method comprises: monitoring for an initial connection by the device to the host; then, while the device is establishing the connection with the host, utilizing a communication bus controller contained in a microprocessor in the device to process communications with the host at a first data transmission rate; and after a predetermined condition, re-establishing the connection with the host using a second bus controller in the device that processes the communications at a second transmission rate that is higher the first data transmission rate.
