A spacer for holding fuel rods includes cells formed by a sleeve having an upper edge and a lower edge and a number of abutment surfaces. The lower edge has a wave shape with wave peaks aligned with a respective one of the abutment surfaces, and wave valleys located between two adjacent ones of the abutment surfaces. The upper edge has a wave shape with wave peaks, which are aligned with a respective one of the abutment surfaces, and wave valleys located between two adjacent ones of the abutment surfaces. Each of the abutment surfaces extend from a respective one of the wave peaks of the upper edge to a respective one of the wave peaks of the lower edge. The sleeves abut each other in the spacer along respective connection areas to make the abutment surfaces rotatable with respect to a center point of the connection area.

Spacer and a fuel unit for a nuclear plant

The invention refers to a spacer for holding a number if elongated fuel rods intended to be located in a nuclear plant and to a fuel unit having such spacers. The spacer encloses a number of cells, which each has a longitudinal axis and is arranged to receive a fuel rod in such a way that the fuel rod extends in parallel with the longitudinal axis. Each cell is formed by a sleeve-like member. Each sleeve-like member is manufactured in a sheet-shaped material that is bent to the sleeve-like shape.

A filter for separating particles from cooling water in a nuclear plant of light water model. The filter has an inlet end () and an outlet end () and allow flowing through of the cooling water in a flow direction z from the inlet end to the outlet end. The filter comprises a plurality of channels () extending mainly in the flow from the inlet end to the outlet end. Each of the channels comprise a first () channel section provided closer to the inlet end, a second () channel section arranged closer to the outlet end, and an intermediate section () provided between the first and the second channel section. Spacer and fuel assembly for a nuclear reactor

A fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor which is designed to allow water, during operation of the reactor, to flow upwards through the fuel assembly while absorbing heat from a plurality of fuel rods, whereby part of the water is transformed into steam. The fuel assembly comprises a first steam pipe ( ) arranged with its longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fuel assembly and the steam pipe comprises an inlet for the steam arranged in the first end of the steam pipe and an outlet for the steam arranged in the second end of the steam pipe. The fuel assembly also comprises a second steam pipe ( ) arranged above and at a distance from the first steam pipe such that an opening is formed between the steam pipes. The outlet of the first steam pipe has a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the inlet of the second steam pipe.

The present invention relates to a fuel assembly for a light-water reactor with a substantially square cross section wherein the fuel assembly comprises a plurality of fuel rods ( ). The fuel rods ( ) extend between a bottom tie plate ( ) and a top tie plate ( ) and a coolant is adapted to flow upwards through the fuel assembly. At least one of the top tie plates ( ) or the bottom tie plates ( ) comprises flow openings ( ) for the passage of the coolant and side supports ( ) for supporting the fuel rods ( ) in the lateral direction. A fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor comprising a plurality of fuel units, stacked on top of each other, each of which comprising a plurality of fuel rods extending vertically between a top tie plate and a bottom tie plate, and means for keeping the fuel elements together. The fuel elements are surrounded by a fuel channel with a substantially square cross section. At least two of the fuel units differ from each other in regard to fuel distribution or free flow area.

Fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor

A spacer for retaining and positioning elongated elements at one or a plurality of levels in a nuclear reactor fuel assembly comprises a grid structure of joined-together sleeve cells. A coolant is adapted to flow upwards through the fuel assembly. The majority of the sleeve cells are provided with an upstream edge with a waveform. The edge is waveformed in such a way that the upwardly flowing coolant first encounters a peak of the wave which is disposed between the joints of the sleeves and thereafter a valley of the wave which is disposed at the joints of the sleeves. The peaks are arranged closer to a center of the sleeve cell than the valleys. Between the peaks and valleys, oblique edges are formed.
