A method performed by a first network entity associated with a first airborne or orbital communication node for enabling at least one wireless device in a wireless communications network to switch from being served by a first service link of the first airborne or orbital communication node to being served by a second service link of a second airborne or orbital communication node, is provided. The method comprises transmitting, to the at least one wireless device, information associated with a reference signal of a transmission beam transmitted over the second service link of the second airborne or orbital communication node, comprising information indicating the location over time of the second airborne or orbital communication node. A first network entity, a wireless device and method therein are also provided, as well as, computer programs and carriers.

Service link switching in a wireless communications network

A method performed by a network node, for controlling access of a first User Equipment (UE) and a second UE to a cell in a radio communications network is provided. The first UE is of a low complexity type, and wherein the second UE is of a regular type. A first association is assigned to the first UE. The first association associates the first UE with its low complexity type. A second association is assigned to the second UE. The second association associates the second UE with its regular type. The network node controls () access of the first UE and second UE by sending a rule to the first UE and second UE. The rule is related to access control that is different for UEs with different associations, for accessing to the radio communications network. The rule triggers the first UE to perform access barring check based on the first association and the obtained rule when initiating an access attempt to the cell, while the second UE performs access barring check based on the second association and the obtained rule.

Network node, user equipment and methods in a radio communications network

There is provided mechanisms for random access handling of a UE. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises receiving, from the UE during a first RAO, a first RA preamble, whilst refraining from responding to the first RA preamble. The method comprises transmitting, towards the UE and without the network node first having received any retransmitted RA preamble from the UE, one RAR for each of N possible RA preambles, where each RAR comprises a TA command corresponding to a TA value estimated for the first RA preamble. The method comprises receiving, from the UE during a further RAO, a retransmitted RA preamble. The method comprises determining whether the TA value for the retransmitted RA preamble matches the TA value for the first RA preamble or not.

Random access handling of a UE

A wireless device () obtains () a configuration of a set of periodic uplink resources specific for the device. The configuration configures the set of resources to support: a) a first procedure comprising a first Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmission of a Message A (MsgA) transmission, b) a second procedure comprising uplink transmissions of, or corresponding to, a two-step Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure comprising, a first Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) transmission and a second PUSCH transmission, and/or c) a third procedure comprising uplink transmissions of, or corresponding to, a four-step RACH procedure comprising a second PRACH transmission, and a third PUSCH transmission. A Timing Advance (TA) value of at least one of the transmissions is: i) independently configurable between the PUSCH and the PRACH transmissions, ii) configured to be zero, and the wireless device () refrains from validating the TA value, and/or iii) explicitly configured and validated before transmission from inactive or idle.

Wireless device, network node, and methods performed thereby, for handling uplink communication

A method () performed by a wireless device () includes obtaining a remaining service time (T) associated with a first satellite or first spot beam. Based on the remaining service time, the wireless device determines whether to initiate a connection with the first satellite or first spot beam.

Power efficient non-terrestrial network connection establishment

Embodiments herein disclose e.g. a method performed by a wireless device () for handling communication for the wireless device in a second wireless communication network. The second wireless communication network coexists with a first wireless communication network on a same bandwidth in frequency, wherein the first wireless communication network applies a first shift in frequency in uplink transmissions. The wireless device receives from a radio network node (), an indication indicating application of a second shift in frequency to uplink transmissions in case the second wireless communication network uses Frequency Division Duplex (FDD). Radio network node, wireless device and methods performed therein for handling communication in a wireless communication network

A method, system and apparatus are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, a network node for communicating with a wireless device is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to receive measurement capability information of a wireless device where the measurement capability information indicates an ability to perform a global navigation satellite system, GNSS, measurement. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a GNSS measurement gap configuration during which the wireless device is to perform at least one GNSS measurement during at least one GNSS measurement gap where the GNSS measurement gap configuration is based at least in part on the received measurement capability information, and indicate the GNSS measurement gap configuration to the wireless device.

In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises: obtaining a timing advance (TA) value for uplink transmissions; receiving a grant for a radio resource control (RRC) inactive mode uplink transmission; measuring a reference signal associated with each beam of a plurality of beams at a first time; selecting a first beam based on the measured reference signals; measuring a reference signal associated with each beam of a plurality of beams at a second time in preparation for the RRC inactive mode uplink transmission; selecting a second beam for which the measuring was performed at the second time; and when the first selected beam is the same as the second selected beam and the reference signal for the first selected beam is within a threshold value of the reference signal for the second selected beam, transmitting the RRC inactive mode uplink transmission using the obtained TA.

UE procedures for reducing RSRP/RSRQ measurement in RRC idle mode and inactive state

Embodiments include methods for operating a network node in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) that utilizes one or more polarization modes for serving one or more cells. Such methods include transmitting, to one or more user equipment (UEs), an indication of at least one polarization mode configured for use in a first cell of the first NTN. The at least one polarization mode can be indicated in various ways, both explicitly and implicitly. Such methods also include transmitting and/or receiving one or more signals or channels in the first cell according to one or more configured polarization modes including the at least one indicated polarization mode. Methods for configuring polarization modes in a non-terrestrial network (NTN)

Embodiments of methods for providing timing advance change detection are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for determining a validity of a timing advance configuration of the wireless device for an idle mode transmission includes obtaining, while the wireless device is operating in a connected mode, a timing advance value for the wireless device. The method further includes transitioning from the connected mode to an idle mode, and performing a measurement on one or more serving cells of the wireless device while the wireless device is in the idle mode. The method also includes determining whether the timing advance is valid for an idle mode transmission based on the measurement. In some embodiments, the measurement may be a signal strength measurement, such as a Reference Signal Received Power measurement and/or a signal quality measurement such as, a Reference Signal Received Quality measurement.

Determining timing advance validity in idle mode

A method is performed by a wireless device for performing a random access. In response to a received paging transmission, and when certain conditions are met, the wireless device randomly selects a random access resource from a plurality of available random access resources. The available random access resources may be spread in time, or in frequency, or in time and frequency. The wireless device then transmits a random access signal on the selected random access resource.

Method and devices for scheduling transmissions of carriers to narrowband internet of things cells

According to some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for handover in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) from a source cell to a target cell comprises receiving a conditional handover configuration for one or more potential target cells.
