A garment () includes an absorbent part () and a waist belt () which is attached directly or indirectly to the garment (). The belt () includes two belt-portions () which extend essentially in mutually opposite directions from the absorbent part () and which are intended to be fastened together around the wearer of the garment (). The handling properties and comfort properties of the garment have been greatly improved by using a belt () whose stiffness varies in the cross-direction thereof.

The invention concerns a garment () comprising an absorbent section () and a waist belt () attached directly or indirectly thereto. The waist belt has two belt portions () extending on either side of said absorbent section for securing to each other around a wearer of the garment The particular handling characteristics of the belt parts of the waist belt () are significantly improved by manufacturing a belt stiffness of between 25 g and 90 g as measured by the modified version of test ASTM D 4032-82 CIRCULAR BEND PROCEDURE.

Waist belt for absorbent garment

An absorbent article suitable for use as a diaper or adult incontinence garment includes an absorbent body disposed between a cover sheet, an inner sheet. Longitudinally extending folds disposed on the inner sheet inhibit the leakage of bodily exudates from the edges of the article. Elastic members extend along a portion of the length of the folds in the mid portion of the article. In the back portion of the article, elastic members connected to the inner sheet extend adjacent the edges of the absorbent body to enhance the fit of the garment. In the front portion of the article, elastic members may also be connected to the inner sheet and extend adjacent the edges of the absorbent body to enhance the fit of the garment.

Attachment belt for absorbent material garments

The invention relates to a belt (1) of flexible material for use with absorbent garments, wherein the belt comprises attachment means (6, 9, 10, 11, 21, 22) securely attached at one end. The attachment means is in the form of a flexible strip of hook elements such as used for releasable hook and loop type connectors and is used for securing that one end to an outer surface of the belt. In order to provide greater comfort for the wearer the attachment means itself is located approximately centrally and extends with its greatest dimension (a) in the width direction of the belt where dimension (a) is between 25% to 75% of the belt width (z).
