A spindle of an airjet spinning machine for guiding back the free yarn end after an interruption in a spinning process is disclosed. The spindle contains an injector duct in the immediate vicinity of the spindle orifice. To guide the free yarn end back after an interruption, compressed air is admitted through the injector duct and generates a suction action at the spindle end. After the yarn end has been guided back level with the entrance of the injector duct the yarn end is blown out of the spindle orifice by the compressed air.

Snarls are formed at winding machines and the like when the thread tension is reduced. By reducing the angle .alpha. which the thread forms with the end surface or face of the delivery bobbin or spool the friction between the thread and the bobbin edge can be increased to such an extent that no thread coils or turns can disengage from the surface of the delivery bobbin and become snarled even when the thread tension decreases. The reduction in the angle .alpha. may be achieved by lowering a thread guide eye towards the delivery bobbin, by lifting the delivery bobbin or by deflecting the thread at an extension or protection provided at the bobbin. Upon deflecting the thread at the extension a thread reserve can be provided by applying thread turns at the extension in a direction opposite to the thread turns wound on the bobbin and which thread reserve can be eliminated in a simple manner by withdrawing the same as a whole or in sections.

Method and apparatus for forming snarl-free thread reserves

A chuck device for a tube used for supporting thread packages of textile yarns or threads comprisng a thread severing ring provided with protruding substantially tooth-shaped cutting elements and an adjacent thread guide ring which, for the purpose of guiding the thread in a direction towards the thread severing ring, is provided with a thread guide surface extending beneath the cutting elements and an adjacent extension or projection. The extension has recess means and radially movable clamping means are arranged in the recess means. At the operational rotational speed of the chuck the radially movable clamping means in conjunction with the cutting elements form clamping points or locations for the thread caught therebetween.

A winding device for automatically changing tubes taking-up endless threads, with a thread deflecting device for lifting the thread off a thread traversing device, a thread holding device for guiding the thread in its lifted-off position during change of the bobbin tube, and at least two driven bobbin chucks which can be alternately brought into a bobbin or tube change position respectively. Each bobbin chuck supporting one tube, and a thread catching- and cutting zone is arranged adjacent one end of the associated tube and rotating therewith. Thread shifting means shift the thread guided by the thread holding device in a first shifting step from a position at the immediate vicinity of the catching- and cutting zone into an end portion of the tube adjacent thereto, and which thread shifting means in a second step shifts the thread over a predetermined distance on such tube for creating the reserve wraps, the thread shifting means shifting the thread at a higher shifting speed during the second step than during the first step. A thread guide element of the thread shifting means is movable in a direction substantially opposite to the direction of the thread shifting movement such that at least one additional shifting step is carried out and which is directed opposite to the above-mentioned first and second shifting steps and such additional step occurring between such first and second shifting steps.

Winding device for automatically changing bobbin tubes

A winding device for endless threads for automatically exchanging a fully wound bobbin tube against an empty tube, comprising at least two bobbin chucks for taking-up the tubes, and which bobbin chucks are arranged upon a pivotable arm. The bobbin tubes are alternately brought into contact, during pivoting of the pivotal arm, first with the circumference of an accelerating ring and then with the circumference of a friction drive drum. The circumferential speed of the accelerating ring exceeds that of the friction drive drum. The accelerating ring can be driven independent of the friction drive drum.
