A roller skate having a boot provided with a rear stiffener and including a rigid collar journaled on the rear stiffener and adapted to surround the lower part of the leg. The upper of the boot is a low upper and the journal of the rigid collar on the upper is located in the area of the upper end thereof, and substantially in the area of the malleoli.

The invention relates to a roller skate boot, of the type constituted by an upper provided with a rear stiffener, and including a rigid collar journalled on the rear stiffener of the boot and adapted to surround the lower part of the leg. According to the invention, the upper of the boot is a low upper, and the journal of the rigid collar on the upper is located at the level of the upper end thereof, and substantially at the level of the malleoli.

The boot includes two distinct zones with different characteristics and functions, including a first relatively rigid energy/power circuit, distributed with respect to the foot, so as to centralize the forces, and especially the front and rear supports or the torsion control, during practice of the sport, and a second relatively flexible, sensitive circuit independent of the energy/power circuit, and adapted to ensure comfort of the foot as well as transmission of information originating from the gliding member towards the ankle. Both of the circuits are affixed to a common reference element.

An element is mounted on the cuff in frictional engagement with an element mounted on the shell base so that the elements move relative to each other in response to pivotal movement of the cuff relative to the shell base. Control means, in association with the elements, are responsive to relative movement between the engaged elements such that the force required to move the elements relative to each other is dependent on the direction of pivotal movement of the cuff relative to the shell base.
