Transmission pre-emption

NB-IoT offers a communication standard for IoT devices in a cellular network. Techniques for providing efficient spectrum management and timely paging of NB-IoT devices are disclosed, including specific DRX cycles for sets of devices in good coverage which require lower latency paging than provided by standard DRX cycles.

Discontinuous reception in internet of things applications

Processes and systems for managing preconfigured resources, in particular wireless transmission resources. The disclosure particularly addresses the management of preconfigured resources in relation to Time Sensitive Network (TSN) data transmission. In addition to allocating periodic preconfigured resources, an allowed transmission window (ATW) is defined. The ATW defines which occurrences of the preconfigured resources may be utilised for transmission, in particular which uplink transmission resources may be utilised by a UE. The ATW may be aligned with the expected time of arrival of TSN data (typically the ingress time window) such that the TSN data can be promptly transmitted. The occurrences which occur outside of the ATW are not to be used for transmission and hence may be re-allocated by the base station for other uses.

TSN support

Methods and systems for managing prioritisation and conflicts in a cellular communication network are provided. Mapping restrictions between logical channels and uplink grants are utilised. In a specific example there is disclosed a method of reducing collisions of uplink (UL) data transmissions from a UE of a wireless communication network to a base station of the wireless communication network, comprising the steps of generating an index for each of a plurality of configured UL grant configurations, modifying a logical channel mapping restrictions to include one or more of the configured UL grant configuration indexes, using the one or more configured UL grant configuration indexes to map the logical channel associated with the modified logical channel mapping restrictions parameter to one or more of the configured UL grant configurations, and using the one or more configured UL grant configurations for one or more of the UL data transmissions from the UE.

Data transmission prioritization in user equipment in a wireless communication network

A method for enabling a wireless communication device to operate in a radio access network as a network relay device to a remote device, using a short range communication channel there between, wherein the communication device receives a control indication signal from the remote device as an indication of future data between the communication device and the remote device via the short range communication channel which forms part of a sidelink communication between the relay device and the remote device; wherein the relay device decodes the control indication signal from the remote device to extract a time allocation for future data.

Methods and devices associated with direct communications in a radio access network

A User Equipment has an uplink buffer for storing uplink data to be sent to a base station in an uplink grant procedure and is configured with a DTX (Discontinuous Transmission) pattern which allows it to skip the transmission of uplink padding transmissions when there is a grant but no uplink data in the uplink buffer during 'off' periods.

Cellular communication system devices and methods

A method of wireless communication using half duplex frequency division duplex (HD-FDD) comprises, at a wireless communications device, receiving downlink data during a plurality of downlink subframes and transmitting a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) on an uplink. The HARQ-ACK relates to downlink data received during at least two of the plurality of downlink subframes and the HARQ-ACK is transmitted during one uplink subframe.

Systems and methods for frequency division duplex communication

Methods are provided for assisting a UE to select a carrier for paging monitoring or for use in a random access request from a set of carriers comprise an anchor carrier and at least one non-anchor carrier. In one example, a carrier is selected based on a probability value associated with at least one of the carriers of the set.
