The disclosure provides a process for treatment of an article () made of a polymer composition; comprising the steps of providing an article () with a surface, the article being made of a polymer composition comprising one or more polyolefins; providing one or more texturing solvents () selected from one or more vegetable oils, one or more terpenes, one or more alkanes and any combination thereof; wherein the one or more texturing solvents () are further selected to have a boiling point which is above the crystallisation temperature Tc of the one or more polyolefins and to be devoid of a halogenated atom and/or an aromatic group; contacting the surface of the article () with the one or more texturing solvents (); and recovering an article with a textured surface with water contact angle following ISO 19403-6:2017 that is increased by comparison to the initial water contact angle.

Process for increasing hydrophobicity of articles made of polyolefins

The disclosure provides for a composite material suitable for use as EMI shielding material, remarkable in that it comprises a component A being a polymer resin being at least one amorphous polymer resin and/or at least one semi-crystalline polymer resin selected from polyethylene resin and/or polypropylene resin; from 15.0 to 60.0 wt. % of component B being at least one metal-coated particle based on the total weight of the composite material; and from 0.5 to 5.0 wt. % of component C being one or more dispersants based on the total weight of the composite material; wherein one or more dispersants are selected from fatty acids, fatty acid derivatives, ethylene bis stearamide, functionalized waxes, maleic anhydride-grafted polymers and any mixture thereof; wherein the blend of components A, B and C shows a density ranging from 0.8 to 2.0 g/cc. A process to produce such composite material is also described as well as an EMI shield article made from such composite material and the use of such composite material in an EMO shield article.

The present invention relates to an article suitable to act as a thermal switch device, the article having a surface resistance of more than 10ohms and formed from a polymer composition comprising from 50 to 99.9 wt % relative to the total weight of the polymer composition, of a polymer being selected from an amorphous polymer having a glass transition temperature Tg, a semi-crystalline polymer having a melting temperature Tm or a mixture thereof, and from 0.1 to 50 wt % relative to the total weight of the polymer composition, of a conductive material, wherein the surface resistance of the article is divided by at least 10, preferably by at least 100, when said article is submitted for a determined period of time of less than 5 minutes to a temperature of switch i) ranging from Tg+10&#xb0; C. to Tg+250&#xb0; C. if the polymer composition comprises an amorphous polymer, or ii) ranging from Tm&#x2212;80&#xb0; C. to Tm+250&#xb0; C. if the polymer composition comprises a semi-crystalline polymer.

A masterbatch for use in a process of preparing a composite material may contain a blend of a first amorphous polymer with carbon nanotubes. At least 5% by weight of carbon nanotubes may be present in the masterbatch, based on a total weight of the masterbatch. The masterbatch may exhibit a high load melt flow index HLMI1 of less than 40 g/10 min determined at 200&#xb0; C. under a load of 21.6 kg according to ISO1133. The invention relates to a pipe comprising at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin, wherein the polyethylene resin has a multimodal molecular weight distribution and comprises at least two metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene fractions A and B, wherein fractions A and B are prepared in different reactors of at least two reactors connected in series, wherein the polyethylene resin comprises: at least 30% by weight and at most 50% by weight of the polyethylene fraction A, based on the total weight of the polyethylene resin, wherein fraction A has a melt index MIof at least 50 g/10 min as determined on the fluff of fraction A according to ISO 1133:1997 condition D at a temperature of 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg;wherein fraction B has a density of at most 0.9210 g/cm; and wherein the polyethylene resin has a melt index MIof at least 0.10 g/10 min and of at most 1.0 g/10 min as determined according to ISO 1133:1997, condition T, at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 5 kg; wherein the polyethylene resin has an HLMI of at least 4.0 g/10 min and at most 14.0 g/10 min, as measured according to the procedure of ISO 1133:1997 condition G with a temperature of 190&#xb0; C. and a load of 21.6 kg; and a density of at least 0.9420 g/cmand of at most 0.9460 g/cmas determined according to the procedure of ASTM D-1505 at a temperature of 23&#xb0; C.

A composition can include polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof. The polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or mixture thereof can include carbon nanotubes. The composition can also include a polyolefin. The composition can include at most 1.90% by weight of carbon nanotubes, based on a total weight of the composition. The composition can be prepared by providing a masterbatch including at least 5% by weight of carbon nanotubes based on a total weight of the masterbatch, and a polyolefin and/or styrenic copolymer. The masterbatch can be blended with polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof, and with a polyolefin, in amounts such that a conductive composition is obtained. An article can be made of the conductive composition.

Process for preparing a conductive composition using a masterbatch

A composition can include polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof. The polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or mixture thereof can include carbon nanotubes. The composition can also include a polyolefin. The composition can include at most 1.90% by weight of carbon nanotubes, based on a total weight of the composition. The composition can be made by melt blending the polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof with carbon nanotubes, and with the polyolefin. An article can be made from the composition.

A high-density polyethylene (HDPE) can be adapted for the manufacture of caps and closures. The caps and closures can be used as screw-on caps for carbonated or still drinks. The high-density polyethylene can have a density of at least 940 kg/mand of at most 970 kg/m, and a high load melt index HLMI of at least 35 dg/min and of at most 180 dg/min. The high-density polyethylene can include a first polyethylene fraction and a second polyethylene fraction. The first polyethylene fraction can have a density of at least 920 kg/mand of at most 945 kg/m, and a melt index HL275 of at least 3 dg/min and of at most 12 dg/min. The second polyethylene fraction can have a density of at least 960 kg/mand of at most 980 kg/m.

High-density polyethylene for caps and closures

A nanocomposite can include a polyolefin composition having at least one polyolefin. The polyolefin composition can have a multimodal molecular weight distribution, such as a bimodal molecular weight distribution. The nanocomposite can also include at least 0.001% by weight of nanoparticles, relative to a total weight of the nanocomposite. The nanoparticles can be carbon nanoparticles, silicon nanoparticles, or SiC nanoparticles. The nanocomposite can be prepared by providing the polyolefin composition, providing the nanoparticles, and blending the nanoparticles with the polyolefin composition. Formed articles can include the nanocomposite.
