The disclosure relates to transfer of a user equipment from a network to another network. In the method a user equipment communicating with a first network is transferred from the first network to a second network providing resources to a plurality of operators. After initiation of the transfer, an operator is selected for the user equipment amongst the plurality of operators. A controller of the second network is then provided with information regarding the identity of the selected operator, and the user equipment is transferred to the second network. Information regarding the identity of the selected operator is also sent to the user equipment.

Transfer of a user equipment in a communication system

A communication system can include an access network, a core network, and user equipment for connection to the core network through the access network. The access network can be configured to receive a request for network access from the user equipment, to receive network access information from the core network, to selectively control access to the core network for the user equipment in dependence on the network information, to identify a request for an emergency call, and to disable the selective control of access to the core network responsive to identification of an emergency call.

Emergency call support for mobile communications

A method for use by a wireless communication network () in responding to a request (b) originating from a requester () for an estimate of the position of a mobile terminal ()&#x2014;the request provided via an LCS server ()&#x2014;along with a requested accuracy, the method including a step in which a controller () of the radio access network () by which the mobile terminal () is coupled to the cellular network () provides a response (h) to the request including not only the position/location estimate but also either the accuracy of the estimate in a form directly useable by the LCS server (e.g. in same form as the requested accuracy), or an accuracy fulfillment indicator, i.e. an indication of whether the accuracy of the estimate is at least as good as the requested accuracy.
