A bench for mechanical characterisation of a battery cell by applying a compression force includes a frame having a first compression plate, a movable element having a second compression plate opposite the first compression plate, a compression spring for applying a compression force to the cell between the first and second compression plates, a force sensor inserted between the movable element and the spring, and movement sensors measuring the movement between the first and second compression plates. The first compression plate includes a projecting compression zone with an area equal to a portion of interest of the cell and the frame includes a recess surrounding a thicker frame in the frame forming a pedestal supporting the first compression plate.

Bench for mechanical characterisation of thin objects

A bench for mechanically characterising a battery cell by applying a compressive force includes a frame carrying a bottom compression assembly and a top compression assembly, means for applying a compressive force to the cell between the compression assemblies, and a force sensor. Each compression assembly includes a compression part and a mounting surrounding the compression part. The compression part and the mounting are at least partly mechanically dissociated. The mounting of the top compression assembly carries movement sensors that measure the movement between the two mountings.

A hydrogen storage tank includes a shell of longitudinal axis, a hydrogen supply and collection duct, and a stack of a plurality of divider elements. Each divider element forms a bottom accepting a hydrogen storage material. The largest transverse dimension of the divider elements is less than the largest transverse dimension of the internal volume of the shell, and the tank includes a plurality of seals in the space formed between the divider element and the shell as a result of the difference in largest transverse dimension.

A tank for storing hydrogen through absorption into a material, the tank having a longitudinal axis and including an outer enclosure and an inner structure having a longitudinal axis, including a plurality of stages and a heat exchange system within the inner structure, each stage including a lower bottom, an upper bottom, longitudinal partition walls, and transverse partition walls. The partition walls form with the lower and upper bottoms compartments for receiving the hydrogen storage material. The upper bottom and/or the upper bottom and the transverse partition walls or longitudinal partition walls are made as a single piece.

Systems and methods for manufacturing a tank for storing hydrogen in metal hydride powder are disclosed. The tank can include a closed enclosure divided into closed cells. Each of the cells can contain metal hydride powder. Each of the cells can also be manufactured successively by assembling the cells in order to form an open cavity or alveolar cell. One or more bulk pieces of a material capable of forming a metal hydride can be placed in the cavity. The cell can be closed with the bulk pieces by closing the cavity. After cells are closed, hydrogen can be introduced into the tank for transforming the bulk pieces into metal hydride powder.

Hydrogen storage tank having metal hydrides

A method of assembling together titanium parts and steel parts by diffusion welding, the method interposing two thin layers of niobium or vanadium and copper respectively between a titanium part and a steel part, evacuating the assembly of parts and interposed metal layers, and subjecting the assembly to hot isostatic compression at a temperature lying in a range 900&#xb0; C. to 950&#xb0; C. and at a pressure lying in a range 1000 bars to 1500 bars for about two hours. The method can be applied to fabricating turbine shafts for turbomachines.

A seal intended to be inserted between a first and a second member, the seal including: two contact portions spaced from each other along a spacing direction, respectively intended to contact in a tight manner the first and second members, the contact portions being made of a first alloy displaying superplasticity properties under predetermined stress conditions including predetermined temperature conditions, the contact portions being supported by a support arranged therebetween, produced so as to display, under the predetermined temperature conditions, a greater mechanical compression resistance in the spacing direction than that of the contact portions.

Superplastic sealing system, preferentialy for electrochemical cell system

An assembly between a metal piece and a ceramic material piece made of SiC and/or C based ceramic material. The assembly includes a stack structure including the following elements assembled together in pairs in this order, by brazing: the metal piece; a first intermediate piece; a second intermediate piece; and the ceramic material piece. The second intermediate piece is made of another ceramic material, that is chemically less reactive relative to metals than are SiC or C, and that presents a coefficient of expansion smaller than that of the material constituting the metal piece. The first intermediate piece is made of metal and can deform to compensate for expansion difference between the metal piece and the second intermediate piece. The assembly can be used in a turbomachine.
