A method for managing single function devices among communication devices broadcasting messages to gateways connected to a gateway manager, a single function device being only able to broadcast a message including a command. The method comprises: the gateways receiving messages sent from communication devices, each message containing an identifier of communication device, the gateways determining quality metrics for each received message, the quality metrics pertaining to the radio link between the gateway and the communication device, the gateways storing, for each received message, a property vector comprising the identifier of the communication device and the quality metrics, the gateway manager collecting the property vectors from all the gateways, the gateway manager identifying a single function device by detecting a property vector comprising an identifier of communication device that is included in a list of single function devices, the gateway manager determining a location of the identified single function device based on the quality metrics of the detected property vector, the gateway manager coupling the identified single function device with a feedback device, based on the determined location of the single function device and on a location of the feedback device, and the gateway manager sending an order to the coupled feedback device to perform a feedback signal.

Broadcasting communicating devices management

A method for managing mobility of communication devices, wherein a gateway manager is connected to a set of gateways, each gateway being paired with at least one communication device through wireless links and each communication device being paired to only one gateway, wherein a first database linked to the gateway manager includes primary vectors containing an identifier of a gateway, an identifier of communication device and quality metrics, the method including: the gateways storing, for each received message sent from communication devices, a secondary vector including an identifier of the communication device, a timestamp and quality metrics pertaining to the radio link between the gateway and the communication device, the gateway manager collecting the secondary vectors from all the gateways and storing the collected secondary vectors in correspondence respectively with identifiers of the gateways in a manager database, the gateway manager selecting, based on the quality metrics, a secondary vector among secondary vectors that contain the same identifier of communication device and contain timestamps included in a predefined time interval, the gateway manager commanding the pairing of the communication device corresponding to the identifier of communication device of the selected secondary vector with the gateway corresponding to the identifier of a gateway of the selected secondary vector, if the selected secondary vector has better quality metrics than a given primary vector having the same identifier of communication device in the pairing database and if the selected secondary vector has an identifier of gateway different from the identifier of gateway of said given primary vector.

A method for optimizing power supply life time of an industrial sensor platform which includes a processing unit, a power supply, and transmission means. The method identifies a sensor connected to an industrial platform, verifies a functional setting of the platform, determines sensor power consumption and sensor measurement time ts, and determines transmission power consumption of the transmission means. The method further includes acquiring input parameter settings which includes expected battery life time, sensor reading interval Ts and periodic transmission interval Tw. Which is followed by calculating an optimum for power supply life time, sensor reading interval Ts, and periodic transmission interval Tw. And adjusting settings of the platform for sensor reading interval Ts and periodic transmission interval Tw according to the optimum calculated.

A system to measure electrical energy of current in a secondary electrical conductor connected to a primary electrical conductor, the primary and secondary conductors having substantially same voltage. The system includes a primary module including an emitter and a unit for measuring voltage of the primary conductor, at least one secondary module including a receiver, an intensity sensor of current in the secondary conductor, and a unit for calculating energy of the current. The primary module compresses the measured voltage value and emits, to each secondary module, a first message containing the compressed measured voltage value. A time synchronization mechanism performs time synchronization of each intensity sensor with the voltage measuring unit. The calculating unit is connected to the receiver and can calculate energy from the measured voltage and intensity values.

An electric power metering device which includes a current sensor, an electronic measurement and rectifier circuit, a processing circuit and a transmitter connected to the processing circuit to transmit power messages to an electric power measurement receiver. An electric current integration capacitor is connected to the current sensor via a rectifier circuit. A switch is commanded by a threshold detector to supply to the processing circuit and the transmitter power accumulated in the capacitor when its electric voltage has exceeded a predefined voltage threshold. A power message representative of a quantity of electric power is then transmitted. A wireless current sensor for measuring an electrical current flowing in an electrical conductor comprising a current transformer including a core arranged around the electrical conductor and forming a primary of the current transformer, and a winding around the core and forming a secondary of the current transformer in order to retrieve an electrical power when an electrical current flows in the electrical conductor, and an electronic circuit connected to the secondary of the current transformer, the electronic circuit including means for storing the generated electrical power, means for measuring the electrical current flowing in the electrical conductor, and a wireless data transceiver coupled to a microcontroller to send the measurement data.

Wireless current sensor

The gateway communication device for wireless communication networks receives messages from a low-power transmitter and communicates with a network. In a system comprising several gateway devices for a low-power transmitter, a master gateway device is defined. Definition of a master gateway device is based on reception quality indicators of the gateway devices situated in said reception zone of messages transmitted by said low-power transmitter. The gateway device having the highest reception quality indicator is selected to be said master gateway device. The communication method also defines a master gateway device in the same way. The master gateway device then selects a backup gateway device to store link tables and in certain cases to act in the place of the master.

Wireless communication device and method, and system comprising such a method

A communication gateway includes a communication unit that transmits and receives messages in order to communicate with at least one remote communication node on a first wireless communication network according to a protocol which includes network access control (MAC), and receives messages originating from at least one transmitter transmitting messages on a second wireless communication network according to a protocol which does not include network access control (MAC). The protocols of the first and second wireless communication networks use a same physical layer (PHY). The communication gateway also includes a processing unit associated with the communication unit that differentiates between the received messages originating from the first wireless communication network and the received messages originating from the second wireless communication network by analyzing header information contained in the received messages originating from the first wireless communication network and in the received messages originating from the second wireless communication network.
