The use of thermoplastic polymers for the preparation of injection-molded articles and the resulting articles are described. Also described, is the use of a lubricated polyamide, obtained by means of the addition of at least one lubricant during the polyamide polymerization method, for the preparation of injection-molded articles.

Use of polyamide for the preparation of injection-molded articles and resulting articles

Permanently crimped fibres produced by three-dimensional texturing, and a method for making same, are disclosed. The fibres are advantageously produced by spinning and optionally stretching a filament roving. The roving is then fed to a three-dimensional texturing station then to a cutting device for cutting the roving into fibres having a predetermined length. The resulting fibres have high bulkiness and enable the production of non-woven surfaces having a remarkable abrasiveness as well as carpets with enhanced wear properties.

Permanently crimped fibres and method for making same

An improved output efficient polyamide-based preoriented yarn spun at a speed of at least 4000 m/min and obtained by introducing, before the spinning, of a quantity of 0.05 to 1% by weight of pyrogenic silica of particle size of between 5 and 15 nm into the molten polymer in the form of dispersion in a master mix of the same polyamide as that intended to be processed, the filaments after spinning being then cooled by means of a gas stream at room temperature and then sized and wound at a speed of between 4200 and 5800 m/min. The preoriented yarns thus prepared exhibit a delay in the orientation and are obtained with a gain in output efficiency of at least 10%, generally at least 15%.

Process for obtaining polyamide yarns with better output efficiency

Process for improving the output efficiency during the spinning of a polyamide-based preoriented yarn at a speed of at least 4000 m/min by introduction, before the spinning, of a quantity of 0.05 to 1% by weight of pyrogenic silica of particle size of between 5 and 15 nm into the molten polymer in the form of dispersion in a master mix of the same polyamide as than intended to be processed, the filaments after spinning being then cooled by means of a gas stream at room temperature and then sized and wound at a speed of between 4200 and 5800 m/min. The preoriented yarns thus prepared exhibit a delay in the orientation and are obtained with a gain in output efficiency of at least 10%, generally at least 15%.

Nonwovens of synthetic continuous filaments obtained by melt extrusion, in which at least 50% of the filaments contain at least from 0,5 to 3%, preferably from 0.6 to 1.5%, of a polyorganosiloxane introduced into the said filaments during their manufacture. Process for the manufacture of these nonwovens, in which, before extrusion of the polymer melt to produce the filaments by flowing through orifices of a die, a silicone oil of polyorganosiloxane type is introduced in the proportion at least of 0,5 to 3%, preferably from 0.6 to 1.5% relative to the polymer, into the melt of the latter. The polyorganosiloxane product employed is of the polydiorganosiloxane type with a molecular weight of between 1,000 and 250,000, preferably between 7,500 and 70,000, corresponding to dynamic viscosities of 50 to 10,000 mPa s; stable under extrusion conditions. Use of the nonwovens, chiefly as a support for floor coverings with stitched pile.
