The present invention relates to a novel process for purifying phycobiliproteins, in particular acid-pH-resistant phycobiliproteins, the resulting phycobiliproteins, and the uses thereof.

The present invention relates to the field of culturing unicellular red algae (URA). The invention relates in particular to a method for culturing URA, characterised in that the culture medium includes milk permeate as the main contribution of at least one carbon source. The invention relates to the field of alga culture, particularly the culture of unicellular red algae (URA). In particular, the invention relates to a method for the culture of unicellular red algae, characterized in that the specific culture conditions, in terms of lighting and nutrients, allow the production of a protein-rich biomass that can contain an increased amount of URA and produce, in addition to pigments, particularly phycocyanin and carotenoids: &#x3b2;-carotene and zeaxanthin. A method for culturing a protist of thegenus. The genus is characterized genetically and by virtue of the lipid profile thereof. The method makes it possible to obtain a high biomass yield and a lipid, and more particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), enrichment of the protists thus cultured. The development of a culture medium allows the production, at high cell density, of a DHA-rich protest of thegenus. The medium is chemically defined at low sodium ion (Na) and chloride ion (Cl) content.
