A synthetic wicker yarn capable of simulating a rolled leaf style, while being adapted to facilitate weaving. The yarn has an extruded, elongated body fabricated from a blend of a plurality of foamed polymers. The body has a surface of a first color, an x-axis and y-axis along a cross-sectional portion of the elongated body, and a longitudinal z-axis along its length. The x-axis has a first effective diameter and the y-axis has a second effective diameter. The body includes at least two rounded, foamed polymer folds, which project transversely from the x-axis and run longitudinally along a portion of the body. These folds simulate the margins of a leaf wrapped into a roll. Between the folds is a substantially concave crease within the surface of the body, also oriented longitudinally. The effective diameters are configured to form a substantially elliptical cross section that is easy to weave.

Synthetic yarn

Hollow decorative tubing fabricated from thin walled metallic stock material, the stock material preferably being stock tubing. Tubing is cold worked to impart any desired design such as simulated bamboo having realistic culm and node characteristics. The tubing is preferably formed into serial or repeating sections, each characterized by the desired design. For simulated bamboo, a realistic node is worked into the tubing between adjacent sections. The invention may be regarded as a method for manufacturing the resultant elongate hollow decorative tubing or, alternatively, an article of manufacture such as a chair incorporating the resultant elongate simulated bamboo article.

A sling chair includes a back frame member having side rails held in substantially parallel relation by a pair of cross bar members. In one embodiment, the cross bar members are generally curved so as to extend away from the back faces of the side rails, forming a concave back structure which can receive a sling member and, eventually, a seated occupant. The cross bar members have a notch allowing for insertion of a flexible rod and sling loop and sling member after assembly of the cross bar members and side rails. Insertion of the flexible rod and sling loop does not require tools. The cross members are adapted to retain the sling member in secure fashion through upper and lower backrest assemblies, resulting in better support and more efficient assembly. This also facilitates separate provisioning of decorative features to improve the chair's aesthetic qualities.

A swivel rocker chair connection assembly facilitates construction of a swivel rocker chair and allows for the secure and stable operation of the chair. The chair includes a base portion, a seat portion and a connection assembly having at least one dual washer plate adapted to engage one or more rocker spring members positioned and engaged with the chair base and seat portions.

A sling table is disclosed having a transparent top and a decorative fabric sling visible through the transparent table top. A frame defines an inner opening of a desired shape. The transparent table top is mounted to the frame in a substantially horizontal orientation. The fabric sling is mounted to the frame within the inner opening via sling rods. The fabric of the sling may match or complement fabric of other pieces of furniture, and may be replaced without having to replace the table top.

A method and system for mounting wicker fibers onto furniture frame members; the system involves a flexible securing rod and at least one frame member with a channel configured to retain the securing rod. The frame member provides at least one channel access point along the channel that enables the securing rod to be inserted fully into the channel and further to enable a portion of the securing rod to be manipulated to expose a portion of the securing rod so that a wicker fiber can be looped around the securing rod. The exposed portion of the flexible securing rod may then be re-inserted into the channel. Thus, in application a frame member may be incorporated into a furniture frame in a complementary configuration permitting the wicker fibers to be woven. The wicker may be looped about securing rods located in complementary frame members so as to create a sling mounted wicker panel.

A lounge chair having movable armrests. The lounge chair comprises a seat, a back, legs and armrests. The armrests may be placed in a raised position for use by the occupant or may be swing down to provide more room or to allow the occupant to easily exit the lounge chair. The armrests are preferably attached to each other such that moving one arm to the lowered position simultaneously moved the other arm to the lowered position.
